PHOTOSHOP CHALLENGE - SPOT COLOUR & CORRECTING EXPOSURE Part One – Spot Colour 1. Open TWO of your own colour photos in Photoshop. 2. Crop the photo if you wish. 3. Duplicate the Background layer. 4. Choose a selection tool (lasso, marquee—whatever works best for the kind of selection you want to do) and draw around the object you want to have Spot Colour. If you want to add more than one selection hold your shift key. 5. Once you have a good selection of your object, go to Layer New Layer via Copy. 6. Deselect the selection if selected. 7. Make your Background Copy layer black and white: Custom Black and White (Image Adjustments Black & White) OR Desaturate (Image Adjustments Desaturate) 8. You can erase, blur/smudge the edges on the new layer/selections to smooth them out. 9. Save as a PSD. 10. Flatten Image and save as a JPEG. 11. Post the original image + your edited JPEG for both pictures on your Weebly. Sample: Original Photo Spot Colour

PHOTOSHOP CHALLENGE - SPOT COLOUR & CORRECTING EXPOSURE

Part One – Spot Colour

1. Open TWO of your own colour photos in Photoshop.2. Crop the photo if you wish.3. Duplicate the Background layer.4. Choose a selection tool (lasso, marquee—whatever works best for the kind of selection you want to do)

Part Two – Correcting Exposure

1. Open Lady In Green in Photoshop.2. Notice the woman is underexposed and the background (especially the sky) is overexposed. 3. Select the woman; choose Image/Adjustments/Exposure to make corrections.4. Inverse the selection to correct the background.5. Open one of your own colour photos in Photoshop that you feel is under/overexposed and make the

necessary corrections.6. Save both files as a PSD and JPEG. Post the before and after photos to your Weebly.

You should have 4 pictures posted to your Weebly for part two.
