The 1st marine expedition had been carried out since February, 16 to June, 11, 1981 aboard S/V “Kallisto” and “Berill”

Sites of study: Northern part of Gulf of Tonkin up to southern islands Condao, Spratlys (In total more than 60 reefs in 12 various areas were investigated)

hermatypic corals with 356 species, and 71 genus was reported including 124 species were not known for Vietnam before and 12 species are the new to a science.

The written collection of scleractinians is the third in the World on completeness, and concerning the coast of Vietnam has no world analogues

cultivation of mass species of corals for restoration of disturbed reefs are given

Mass species of coral Pocillopora Verrucosa can be used for cultivation
