2018-19
The institution makes tremendous efforts in celebrating the national and international
days, events and festivals throughout the year. As an academic institution, it believes in value
education as stated in the English proverb „Knowledge comes but wisdom lingers‟, so the society
by and large needs wisdom for grooming of healthy society. The life stories of our national
heroes, their contribution in nation-building, their sacrifices and efforts for the creation of
universal brotherhood, peace and tolerance etc. have always appealed the youths of the nation.
Therefore institution celebrates/ organizes the birth and death anniversaries of national heroes
like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and celebrates 5th
September, the Teachers Day
as a Birth Anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and also celebrates the events of national
importance like Independence Day, Republic Day and Constitution Day, Festivals like Diwali,
Christmas, Ramzan Eid to maintain communal harmony.
This has been a regular practice of the institute.In academic year 2018-19, we have celebrated

We believe when we commemorate a special occasion, we are essentially placing a mental
bookmark on an experience, thereby making it easier to remember it in the future. The photos,
videos and other forms of memorabilia from those occasions serve as triggers that we can use to
re-live those experiences in the future.

Tree plantation bystaff and students of Enviro Club on the World Environment Day
On the World Environment Day, 5th June 2018, the institutecelebrated the day by planting trees
in the presence of Dr. F. C. Raghuwanshi, Principal, staff and Enviro Club members. Almost 30
trees were planted around the edges of the ground.
International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day is celebrated annually on 21st June since its inception in 2015. Yoga is a
physical, mental and spiritual practice originated in India. The programstarted at 7.30 am in the
college premise with all the staff members and students. The program was chaired by Hon‟ble
Mrs. Manjari Shekhawat, Chairperson, General Events Management Society. 314 participants
were benefited on this occasion.

The Independence Day was celebrated in the Vidya Bharati campus on 15th
August 2018.
Hon‟ble President of VBSM Mr. Raosaheb Shekhawat and Hon‟ble Manjari Shekhawat with
other Dignitaries graced the function. The guests, student & teachers started pouring in by and
started flag hosting at sharp 7.30 am. The National flag was hosted by the Hon‟ble chairman Mr.
Raosaheb Shekhawat. The program was followed by the National Anthem and Speech of
Hon‟ble Chairman. He spoke about IT revolution & need of youth strength for the today‟s India
and also on the teacher‟s responsibility to shape the students. Then closing speech delivered by
the Dr. Monali Ghurde, NSS Ladies Program Officer and announced official closing of the
program. Sweets were distributed in the guests as well as students. All faculty members and 754
students participated.

Teachers‟ Day celebrates 5th
September throughout the country. This day is dedicated to Dr.
Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan– second President of India and the great academic philosopher, well
known diplomats, scholar, President of India and above all a teacher. His birthday has been
observed as teachers' day. The Chairperson of this program was Dr. N. R. Thorat, NSS Program
officer. 85 students and NSS volunteers participated. On this occasion, the students from each
program performed special cultural program for their teachers to make them happy and feel
special in every way possible which include felicitation of teachers and various interactive games
too.
World Ozone Day
Dr. M. U. Ghurde expressing views on Ozone Day
International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer was celebrated by Department of
Botany on 16th September 2018. The Chief Guest Dr. M. U. Ghurde spoke on Importance of
Ozone layer and its impact on environment and explained how it is protected the human
health and ecosystems by limiting the harmful ultraviolet radiation from reaching the earth.
Around 46 students were benefited.

birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, was celebrated on 2nd
October
2018 at national and international level to propagate his message. Dr. Ashok Chauhan, Secretary,
VBSM, Amravati was the Chairperson. All other dignitaries were present over there. On this
occasion, each department visited different NGOs. This inculcates the social responsibility
among the students. 845 students participated in NGO Visits.
Wild Life: Save nature, Save animals

The Department of Zoology has organized Wild Life Week by organizing Poster exhibition on
Wild life. This exhibition was organized on 13/10/2018 to promote conservation and protection
of faunal life in ecosystem, also importance of wildlife preservation for balance and healthy
environment. Around 74 students participated in the exhibition. Dr. M. M. Kherde, Head,
Department of History and Vice-Principal of Junior College were the examiners of the poster
exhibition.

over India. Department of Library Science organized the program to inculcate the reading habit
among the students. 106 students participated in the program.

Birth anniversary of National hero Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is observed as National Unity Day
on 31/10/2018. He is also remembered as the "Patron Saint of India's Civil Servants" for
establishing the „Modern All-India Services‟ system. He is also called the "Unifier of India".
Hon‟ble Principal Dr. F. C. Raghuwanshi paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Smt.
Indira Gandhi and highlighted his immense contribution towards India's freedom struggle and
national integration. 95 students were present on this occasion.

Constitution Day
Constitution Day was celebrated on 26th
November 2018 at 11.30 am. It aimed at reiterating and
reorienting the citizens towards the values and principles expressed in the Constitution and
encouraging all Indians to play their rightful role in strengthening the Indian Democracy. Italso
aimed to create awareness of Fundamental Duties as enshrined in the Constitution. The Staff and
90 students took part in reading the preamble of Indian constitution.

World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day is celebrated on 1st December dedicated to raise awareness to the AIDS
pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. The AIDS awareness rally was jointly
organized with the Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati. 45 NSS Volunteers
participated in AIDS Awareness rally organized on 3/12/2018. The Rally started from District
General Hospital till Rajkamal Square, Amravati.

Commemorate Dr. Babsaheb Ambedkar on his Death anniversary on 6th
December 2018 at 11.30
am. Dr. V. V. Parate, Head of Chemistry Department chaired the program. She paid floral tribute
and focused the stuggle and huge work of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar for the deprivedsection of
the society and also remembered his work for the nation building. The staff and 82 students
were present.

Sant Gadge Maharaj was remembered on his death anniversary on 23/12/2018. Dr. R. M. Patil,
IQAC Coordinator and Head, Department of English was the chairperson of this program. In his
speech, he talked on the 10 commands of Sant Gadge Maharaj for living satisfactory and healthy
life. 80 students and the staff members were present for the program.

The Department of Mathematics organized National Mathematics Day on 22/12/2018 at 11.30
am to mark Birth Anniversary of Legendary Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. Dr. P.
P. Khade, Head, Department of Mathematics was the chairperson of this event. The students of B
Sc final 26 in number were present for the program.

Birth Anniversary of SavitribaiPhule
The NSS unit of the institute celebrated birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule in the Institute on
3rd
January 2019 at 11.30 am. The program was chaired by Dr. G. D. Bansod, Head, Department
of Marathi. He expressed his views about Savitribai Phule, the first lady teacher, who stood alone
for the girls‟ education, took lots of efforts to educate women and established a school for girls
in Pune.85 students were present on the occasion.

Birth anniversary of National hero Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is observed on 23/01/2019. The

paid tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and reminded the students about his courage and
patriotism. Around 90 students were present on this occasion.

Marathi Bhasha Diwas was celebrated on 27th

addressed that the Marathi language is one of the oldest literature of all modern Indo-Aryan
languages and it is the official language of our State. 67 students were present on this occasion.

Annual Report on celebrations of Commemorative events
2017-18
The institution believes in celebrating events and festivals in college. It is an integral part of
learning and building a strong cultural belief in a student. The college encourages students to
embrace other traditions and culture just like the way they do with their own.
Students will remember an important day only if they are told what the occasion signifies,
making them aware of the world in a more fun way. The events and festivals organized at college
are often celebrated with great pomp and gaiety. Apart from classroom activities, we also pay
heed to other important festivals which must be celebrated in order to understand our country‟s
tradition. Therefore our institution celebrates/ organizes the birth and death anniversaries of
national heroes, celebrates the events of national importance like Independence Day and
Republic Day, Festivals like Diwali, Christmas, Ramzan Eid to maintain communal harmony.
The institution also observes Gandhi Jayanti, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti and celebrates 5th
September, the Teachers Day as a Birth Anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
We have been celebrating these days from few decades. For the academic year 2017-18, we have
been celebrating the following days like World Environment Day, International Yoga Day,
Constitution Day, National Mathematics Day, Independence Day, Republic Day, World Ozone
Day, National Science Day, Birth Anniversaries of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakhishnan, Mahatma
Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shashri, Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru,Dr. S. R. Rangnathan, Smt. Savitribai Phule,
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and Commemorate to Sant Gadge Maharaj and Dr. Babasaheb
Ambedkar.
Keeping its values intact, we wish to offer the right kind of educational system which is based on
moral ethics. The college also believes that education will allow the students to bloom, blossom
and thrives, giving them the right platform where they will work towards becoming a responsible
citizen.

Save Environment- Plant Trees
Enviro -Club, NSS and NCC Units of the institution took initiative to celebrate World
Environment Day on 5th
June 2017.This is observed by planting trees starting from the campus
itself. The students and staff participated in the tree plantation activity. Almost 25 trees were
planted in the campus. The staff members as well as 35 Students were present on this occasion.

International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June since its inception in 2017.Yoga is an
invaluable gift of India‟s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and
action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health
and well-being. The program coordinator Dr. V. V. Parate demonstrated various asanas followed
by Omkar chanting. 230 students and staff took the oath to practice yoga regularly on this
occasion.

Library staff celebrated Library Day and 125th
Birth Anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan,
Father of Library Movement in India. Dr. F. C. Raghuwanshi, Principal paid tribute to Dr. S. R.
Ranganathan and spoke on reading habits of young generation. He told that students must read
books of competitive examination and career guidance to get the better job. Dr. V. R. Shekhawat,
College Librarian addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of libraries in higher
education system. Around 63 students attended the program.

Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect in Vidya Bharati Campus
on 15th
August 2017. Hon‟ble President of VBSM Mr. Raosaheb Shekhawat with other

International Youth Day
The NSS Unit of our college celebrated the International Youth Day on 26th
August
2017. Dr. Shyamsunder Nikam, Civil surgeon, Dr. Ajay Sakhare, Medical officer and
Dr. Suyoga Deshpande, Medical Officer, District General Hospital, Amravati graced the
function. Dr. Ajay Sakhare informed the students about HIV/ AIDS and today‟s youth.

Teachers‟ day is celebrated on 5th
September throughout the country as Teachers Day. This day
is dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. His birthday has been observed as teachers' day to
appreciate and acknowledge the efforts and hard work of our teachers in making us sophisticated
and responsible individuals. Whole campus was involved in celebrating this day. Students wore
traditional dresses and organized programs having fun. On this occasion, students organized the
cultural program followed by the speeches.

Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, was celebrated on 2nd
October in
presence of Principal, Dr. F.C.Raghuwanshi and other Dignitaries on Sports Ground of the
campus sharp at 8.30 am. On this occasion, each department visited different NGO. To inculcate
the youth towards social awareness and to build a bridge the gap between our institution and
NGOs, these visits were preplanned and executed successfully. Total 150 students participated in
the meeting.

January 2017 at 11.30 am. He expressed his views about Savitribai Phule, was
the first women, who stand alone for the girl‟s education, took lots of efforts to make women
educated and make available first girl‟s school in Pune.
Republic Day
Hon‟ble President Mr. Raosaheb Shekhawat hosting flag on the occasion of
Republic Day
College celebrated 69th Republic Day on the 26th
January, 2019. Students, Staff and Faculty
members. The celebration started with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Hon‟ble President
Mr. Raosaheb Shekhawat. In his speech, the President highlighted the importance of the
Constitution and its unique features such as Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and
Republic enshrined in the preamble of the constitution. Sweets were distributed among all the
guests and students. Around 550 students were present on this program.
National Science Day
National Science Day is celebrated in India on 28th
February 2017 each year to mark the
discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman on 28th
February 1928 for his
discovery and award of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. Department of Physics organized this
event. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjay Ghosh, Associate Professor, Department of
Physics, Kaviyatri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon and with the
lighting of the ceremonial lamp. This was followed by welcome address delivered by Mr. T.S.
Wasnik Coordinator of the program highlighted the significance of celebrating the Science Day
in remembrance of Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman for receiving the noble prize for
discovery of Raman Effect. 54 students were present over there.

As an academic institution, it is the responsibility of the institution to imbibe moral values along
with the academics in the students and other stakeholders. The rich culture and heritage of our
country is so vast and full of heroism. The life stories of our national heroes, their contribution in
nation-building, their sacrifices and efforts have always appealed the youths of the nation. It is an
inspiration to the young crowd i.e students who will become the part of society in future.
Therefore our institution celebrates/organizes the birth and death anniversaries of national
heroes, celebrates the events of national importance like Independence Day and Republic Day, to
remind them of our great history. Festivals like Diwali, Christmas, Ramzan Eid are also
celebrated to maintain communal harmony. The institution also observes Gandhi Jayanti, Dr.
Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti and celebrates 5th
September, the Teachers Day as a Birth

International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day was celebrated annually on 21stJune since its inception in 2016. Yoga is
a physical, mental and spiritual practice originated in India. The program started at 7.30 am in
the college premises with all the staff members and students. The program was organized by Dr.
V. V. Parhate and Dr. P. R. Rajput. Dr. V. V. Parhate gave demonstration on yoga. 200
participants were benefited on this occasion.

Birth Anniversary of Dr. S. R. Rangnathan was celebrated on 12th
August 2016.S. R.
Ranganathan was a mathematician and librarian from India. Hon‟ble Principal Dr. F. C.
Raghuwanshi paid rich tribute to Dr. S. R. Rangnathan and highlighted his most notable
contributions to the field were his five laws of library science and the development of the first
major faceted classification system. 63 students were present.

Independence Day
Independence Day is annually celebrated on 15th
August, as a National
festival in India commemorating the nation's independence. The Independence Day was
celebrated in the Vidya Bharati campus on 15th
August 2016. The National flag was hoisted by
the Hon‟ble Principal Dr. F.C.Raghuwanshi. The program was followed by the National Anthem
and Speech of Principal. It is a national holiday. 410 students were present on this occasion.

Death Anniversary of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj was celebrated on 11th
oct 2016.
Dr.G.T. Lamdhade delivered speech on Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj, a spiritual saint from
Maharashtra, India. He was born in 1909 in a poor family in the village of Yavali in Amravati
District of Maharashtra.

AIDS Awareness Rally
The NSS unit of Vidya Bharti Mahavidyalaya organized rally in the presence of Dr. D. S.
Ramteke, NSS Program Officer and NSS Volunteers, from District General Hospital to Rajkamal
Chowk, Amravati. The aim of the AIDS Awareness Programme was to empower and increase
the awareness of AIDS not only among students but also in the society. It also intended to spread
the impact, management and availability of support systems. This is to encourage early testing
and lifestyle changes that will thereby reduce and prevent further infection. To make society
aware about AIDS. 75 students were present in the rally.

Road Safety Week Rally
A rally was organized to send the message of safe driving to mark Road Safety Week at Nehru
Maidan, Amravati on 14th
Jan 2017 in the presence of Dr. D. S. Ramteke, NSS Program officer
and NSS Volunteers. During Road Safety Week, the police often do roadside checks of vehicles
for safety, highlighting the dangers of poorly maintained vehicles and offering advice to drivers.

Republic Day
Vidya Bharati College celebrated 68th
Republic Day on the 26th January, 2017. Students, Staff
and Faculty members were present for the hoisting of the National Flag. Hon‟ble Principal Dr.
F. C. Raghuwanshi was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Dr. M.N. Bode a faculty and his team
presented Patriotic songs. Around 460 students were present on this program.

February each year to mark the discovery of
the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman on 28th

speech on “Innovations in Science”. He also highlighted the significance of celebrating the
Science Day and encouraged the students. 49 students were present.

International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21stJune since its inception in 2015.Yoga is an
invaluable gift of India‟s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and
action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health
and well-being. The program coordinator Dr. P. R. Rajput demonstrated Pranayam. The
celebration concluded with synchronized recitation of shlokas. Dr. Vandana Parate encouraged
students and staff to practice regular yoga to remain fit and improve concentration. 150 students

Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence in the Vidya Bharati
campus on 15th
August 2015. Hon‟ble President of VBSM Mr. Raosaheb Shekhawat with other
Dignitaries graced the function. The National flag was hoisted by the Hon‟ble Chairman Mr.
Raosaheb Shekhawat. The program was followed by the National Anthem and speech of Hon‟ble
Chairman. All faculty members and 450 students participated in the celebration.

AIDS Awareness week
The NSS unit of the college organized a rally to mark AIDS Awareness Week on 3rd
December
2015 dedicated to raise awareness to the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.
The aim of the HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme is to empower and increase the awareness to
participants of HIV/AIDS, its impact, management and availability of support systems. The
AIDS awareness rally was organized by Dr. D. S. Ramteke, NSS Program Officer and NSS
Volunteers participated in AIDs awareness rally organized on 3/12/2015. Rally started from
District General Hospital Amravati. Around86 students were present in the rally.

Birth Anniversary of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj was celebrated on 20th
April 2016.
Mr.T.S. Wasnik delivered the lecture on Ethical values of preaching of Rashtrasant Tukadoji
Maharaj, a spiritual saint from Maharashtra, India. He was born in 1909 in a poor family in the

Birth Anniversary of Chatrapati Shahuji Maharaj
140th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj was celebrated on 26
th June
2014. He is also known as Rajarshi Shahu and considered as a true democrat and
social reformer. Shahu Maharaj was an able ruler who was associated with many
progressive policies during his rule. He worked for the cause of the lower caste
subjects in his state. Primary education to all regardless of caste and creed was one
of his most significant priorities.

AIDS Awareness
The NSS unit of Vidya Bharati Mahavidyalaya organized rally in the presence of
Dr. D. S. Ramteke NSS Program Officer and NSS Volunteers from Vidya Bharati

Every year the Republic Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The Republic
Day was celebrated in presence of staff members and a huge number of students.
The celebration of this day in the college is to remind the students of the great
sacrifice made by our freedom fighters. After hoisting the flag, sweets were also
distributed amongst the students and staff. Around 700 students were present.

(Alumnus). This was followed by welcome address delivered by Dr. N.G. Belsare, Coordinator
