Bus Rapid Transit service starts this monthVIA Metropolitan Transit’s first bus rapid transit line, called VIA Prímo, launches service Dec. 17.
Prímo features:1 More frequent service — from about 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Prímo buses will pass by stops and stations every10 minutes1 Service between downtown and the medical center, with every third bus traveling to the main campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio1 Buses 20-feet longer than most VIA buses
1 A sleeker, more rail-like experience
1 Large, covered waiting areas, called stations
1 Wi-Fi
1 Level-boarding, so the bus isn’t required to lower for passengers to get on and off
1 Bicycle racks inside the bus

Medical Center bus circulatorWhen bus rapid transit service begins, the new South Texas Medical Center Transit Center at Babcock Road and Medical Drive opens, replacing the old center on Merton Minter. The transit agency will also launch its medical center shuttle service, called the Medlink Circulator, which will take passengers from the new transit hub to places in the medical center not on the Prímo route.
