AMPHOTERIC SURFACTANT (BEAUTYCARE SF):extremely mild amphotenic surfactant that creates a creamy foam and leaves the skin hydrated. Sunflower seed oil, used for the synthesis of Beautycare SF, is very rich in vitamin A and carotenoids, which perform a very strong antioxidant activity against free radicals.

BETAINE: In solution it is able to coordinate water molecules with consequent formation of very strong hydrogen bonds, making it an excellent ingredient with moisturising and hydrating activity. In addition, it performs a restorative and protective function against mucous membranes.

D-PANTHENOL CYCLOSYSTEM:d-panthenol contained in cyclodextrins with elasticising and regularising action on the water content of the skin and coat.

    Cyclodextrins: stabilising and emulsifying

CHLORHEXIDINE DIGLUCONATE:Chlorhexidine digluconate is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeast, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses. Given its cationic properties, chlorhexidine digluconate binds strongly to the skin, mucous membranes and other tissues, from which it is released slowly over several hours. In this way, chlorhexidine digluconate prolongs its availability.

COLLOIDAL SULPHUR: Attività antiseborroica. Attività cheratolitica ed esfoliante.

DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL METHYL ETHER: slows down the evaporation of solvents, particularly that of water.

EDTA disodium salt (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt):The main function of Disodium EDTA is to chelate metal cations (calcium, magnesium, iron), forming with them a complex stable anion: in practice, it is able to inactivate metal cations, preventing them from binding with other ingredients of the formulation and undermining the stability of the product itself. Disodium EDTA can also strengthen the antimicrobial activity of some preservatives, especially against Gram-negative bacteria.

LACTOBIONIC ACID: Lactobionic acid is an acid consisting of gluconic acid (poly-hydroxy acid) linked to galactose (sugar). Lactobionic acid retains atmospheric water together with the one contained in the formulation with a very strong bond, forming a gel allowing a high degree of skin hydration having soothing and protective action. Thanks to its antioxidant functions, it is able to prevent the formation of free radicals. Like other alpha-hydroxy acids, it is effective in regulating the production process of epithelial cells, promoting cell turnover. The advantages of Lactobionic acid compared to AHAs at the same concentration and pH are:

increased moisturising and soothing activity;strengthens the skin barrier function and promotes skin repair processes;has a better skin tolerance profile and is not irritating;is tolerated well in patients with atopic dermatitis;improves the appearance, elasticity and brightness of the skin as it stimulates cell renewal;increases the thickness of the dermis.

FIREWEED EXTRACT:Fireweed extract, rich in astringent tannins, regulates the sebum production. Preparations with hydrating function and with anti-inflammatory effect are obtained from fireweed. Used in fungal dermatoses. Studies conducted on Epilobium angustifolium have shown, via the test method of carrageenan-induced oedema, a clear anti-inflammatory activity and a marked reduction of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. The active ingredient is present in highest concentration in the leaves, particularly when flowering and immediately after flowering [9].It also has an analgesic activity [10].The antimicrobial properties are interesting: alcohol extracts inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, S. albus, Pseudomonas pyocyanea and Candida albicans [11].

GLYCERINE:rehydrating and emollient action. Balancing protective emulsifier for the skin surface.

GLYCEROPHOSPHOINOSITOL LYSINE SALT: Among its most important properties, it has been demonstrated that GPI and its salts are able to modulate negatively the activation of phospholipase A2, an enzyme involved in the inflammatory cascade. However, GPI, despite acting at a level of action similar to corticosteroids, does not have a steroid structure and therefore does not interact with steroid receptors, but works physiologically, by the natural system of control of cPLA2, selectively limiting its activity. For this reason, it does not interfere with the hormonal balance of the body but determines precisely the side effects typical of this class of drugs.

    LANOLIN ETHOXYLATE:emollient and moisturising.

OMEGA 6 LIPOSOMES: micro-capsules that penetrate into the deep layers of the epidermis, gradually releasing hydrating active principles.

PERCARBAMMIDE: in contact with the air it breaks down into urea, hydrogen and oxygen, causing a detergent, sanitising and ceruminolytic activity.

PURIFIED WATER: It is characterised by the high purity level that allows it to be used in pharmaceutical preparations as there are no ions or microbiological contaminations. It is obtained by a number of continuous processes:

reverse osmosis;pre-filter with activated carbon, polyphosphate and 1 micron mechanical filter;2 reverse osmosis membranes;ion exchange resin that can be regenerated;UV Lamp.

NICOTINAMIDE:It is considered a valid agent in the treatment of inflammatory skin diseases caused by the formation of antibodies. The anti-inflammatory action is probably based upon complex multifactorial mechanisms, such as the inhibition of the release of histamine, the inhibition of leukocyte chemotaxis and the suppression of lymphocyte transformation. It plays an antioxidant action because it is an important component of coenzymes involved in transporting oxygen and it performs a negative action on the production of sebum. In addition, it increases the synthesis of keratin, stimulates the synthesis of ceramides, accelerates the differentiation of keratinocytes with improvement of the dermo-epidermal function and increases hydration.

PROPYLENE GLYCOL:humectant, acting on the surface tension, it encourages the penetration of water. Propylene glycol is a humectant, i.e. it helps the skin to absorb moisture; these absorbent properties in fact allow water-based ingredients to penetrate into the skin. It also makes hair soft and easy to comb.

SALICYLIC ACID exfoliating action of the upper layers of the skin, keratolytic action, bacteriostatic action, desiccant (degreasing), soothing and anti-inflammatory action.

    SAGE GLYCOLIC EXTRACT: Skin purifying.

UREA: It is the carbamic acid amide, known for its properties as a moisturiser and softener. Urea is naturally present on healthy skin, since it helps to replenish the natural moisturising factor (NMF) of the epidermis. It is therefore mainly used to replenish that NMF factor in the most dehydrated skin, ensuring that the stratum corneum retains more water. Urea has keratolytic properties, as it promotes the detachment of the dead surface cells and therefore skin regeneration.

SABOSOL DOS: Dioctyl sulfosuccinate or sodium docusate is an anionic surfactant, sulfonic acid ester.

It is used in gentle cosmetic preparations as it performs a bland action of quick release of fatty substances (including ear wax).It has a special feature that distinguishes it from other anionic surfactants and characterises its particular capacity to remove fats: it is able to form reverse micelles, i.e. with the polar part inside and the apolar part outside.

SQUALENE: a substance with high ceruminolytic activity. It is not ototoxic even in the presence of a ruptured eardrum. Squalene is one of the most important constituents of sebum, an oily substance that keeps the outermost layer of the epidermis hydrated, slowing down the evaporation of water. Squalene also boasts precious emollient and nourishing activities.

TRIS (tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane):with unknown mechanisms it interacts with the bacterial membrane, altering its permeability and it degrades RNA and nucleotides.

  • WHEY:whey is what remains of the whole milk after it has been curdled. It is naturally rich in protein, essential amino acids, minerals and vitamins; it is used to rebalance delicate epidermis.

ZINC GLUCONATE:: it performs a decongestant and sebum-normalising action, controlling sebaceous secretion. It inhibits the activity of 5-alpha-reductase up to 30%, thus preventing the transformation of testosterone into dihydro testosterone, responsible for the production of sebum.

ZINC PCA: This is the zinc salt of pyrrolidone (PCA). Its amino acid structure gives it both the capacity to bond and retain water, thanks to the presence of hydrophilic functional groups, and conditioning properties. In addition, Zinc PCA has anti-seborrheic, antimicrobial properties due to the presence of zinc. Zinc is an essential trace element that helps the growth process, immunity and skin integrity. It promotes the renewal of skin tissue and it is essential for the synthesis of keratin and collagen.
