TECHNICAL APPROACH

Fuel Flow Meters

The selection of Fuel Flow Sensors will be determined by customer.

It’s been Krill Systems experience when using the Kral Fuel Flow meters that the accuracy and flexibility of the data and installation creates a reliable and accurate vessel fuel measurement and management system (VFMMS)

Flow information being transmitted from each sensor is converted into an Ethernet signal via a Modbus TCP Multiplexor and delivered to a multi-port Ethernet Switch.

Transmitters, Multiplexors and Ethernet Switch are housed in a waterproof IP67 Enclosure in the engine room.

Data Management System

The Krill System’s network collects sensor data from both industry standard NMEA2000 and shielded Ethernet connected devices. In this application, it will be receiving fuel flow information from the Ethernet Switch, described above, and will send the information to two (2) Krill processors for onboard display, use and storage. GPS information, from an existing onboard system, is also delivered to the system via a GPS interface module.

Using industry standard Microsoft SQL Server database technology, all incoming sensor data is recorded with 2 second resolution.

All recorded sensor data is stored within the onboard system and may also be transmitted via any communication system, including Cellular or Satellite Internet, supporting standard SMTP email protocols.

Transmitted sensor data such as fuel consumption, GPS position and engine data is included in an Excel comma separated value (CSV) formatted spreadsheet with separate rows for each sensor. Any starting and ending time going back at least 365 days can be specified, as well as the data interval between each column from every 1 minute to 1 hour.

The transmitted sensor data reports can then be used to remotely analyze important onboard information, including:

Voyage Report with ID Start Finish Duration Distance Speed Fuel Consumption Fuel Efficiency

The Internet link also allows for remote interrogation and troubleshooting of the onboard system.

Installation:

Krill Systems network is installed with industry standard shielded Ethernet cables, with all Krill devices connected together by a central Ethernet switch. There is no practical limit to the number of Display Units or Sensor units that can be added, as multiple Ethernet Switches can be cascaded together to grow the network to accommodate any number of devices.

Onboard displays allow all available information to be presented in a variety of ways:

Vessel Operations Center:

Krill System is also capable of expansion to accommodate the new Krill Vessel Operations Center(VOC), designed to monitor, report and manage Krill information from a fleet of vessels, should future needs call for one.

Vessel Operations Center:

All recorded sensor data such as gal/hour, gal/nm, gal/Kw, total gal, GPS position, engine data etc. is included in an Excel comma separated value (CSV) formatted spreadsheet with separate rows for each sensor. Any starting and ending time going back over a year can be specified, as well as the data interval between each column from every minute to one (1) hour. This spreadsheet can be transmitted manually at any time and/or on a pre-set time schedule. In the event that Internet connection is interrupted, the

spreadsheet will be automatically transmitted as soon as connection is restored. Sample spreadsheet, below:

Please note the block diagram is showing a dual (2) processor and display configuration, our recommendation would be to run a single (1) processor and display configuration into the wheel house.

Technical Documentation

Technical documentation is available and will be provided for all Fuel Measurement and Management system components and software for each ship in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format and two (2) hard copies.

Warranty

Krill Systems warrants its products to be free from defects for two (2) full years from the date of purchase. A full copy of this warranty will be delivered on request and upon delivery of the system.
