•  UK  Marine  Vessel  Efficiency  compe55on  opens  Jan    2013  •  Total  TSB  funding  to  date  –  including  VE  Comp  £20.4m    

 in  this  FY.  Longer  term  

–  Con5nue  to  work  with  the  marine  and  mari5me  industry      to  seek  opportuni5es  for  growth  for  UK  plc  and  create      global  opportuni5es  

Vessel  Efficiency  Compe++on  

•  Launched  19th  November  2012  –    •  up  to  £8m  fast  track    

 and  CR&D  –  opening  14th      January  2013  –  Partners  –    DSTL  and  Scodsh  Enterprise  

•  Encourage  par5cipa5on  from  all      sectors  of  marine  and      Mari5me  for  innova5on  and  technology  to  improve    overall  vessel  efficiency  

•  5%  improvements  for  exis5ng  vessels  and  25%  for  future

Themes  that  are  include  –  but  not  exhaus5ve:  –  Weight  op+misa+on    –  Smart  materials    –  Posi+oning  and  communica+ons;    –  Autonomous  sensing,  avionics  and  advanced  naviga+on;    –  Smart  green  propulsion  and  alterna+ve  low  carbon  /  emission  systems    –  Vessel  design  and  engineering
