‘This is England's worst nightmare. Enjoy it.’
Vertigo films are interesting as they represent a vision of England that one could
argue is more realistic than the Working Title stable of
work.
Vertigo has used innovative new technology, meticulous attention to budget and great care of its audience to produce and distribute thirty films to date with an unprecedented string of commercial success.
• They are gradually becoming more successful. Both critically & economically.
• In 2009 they released the critically acclaimed Th e

Vertical Integration
Funding
• Vertigo have received funding from Channel 4 films, The Film Council and the NFTS to promote film projects with schools.
• They are also very innovative and raising funding through public involvement
Nick Love’s Outlaw
They had a budget of £2.5 million, funded by the public, through a website with investment packages of £10, £50, and £100.
In return for their contributions, investors got incentives including executive producer credits on the DVD,film merchandise such as T-shirts, the chance to be a film extra, invites toscreenings, and production updates.
Producer Allan Niblo said:"Vertigo Films is extremely proud and excited to be involving the UK public inthis unique opportunity to fund Nick Love's next feature film. We are confidentthat fans of Nick's work and British film fans in general will be intrigued andenthusiastic about being directly investing involved within Outlaw".
As a small company without huge investors,
they can afford, or perhaps they have to
take risks with filmmaking.
Faintheart is a 2008 film, the first to be created using input from an online site. The film was a result of a collaborative effort from Myspace, Vertigo films and Film4. The resulting group, MyMovieMashUp, sought to harness the talents of the online community and to enable them to be involved in the film-making process. Various cast and crew members were picked from the MySpaceUK website to work on the project, a unique tactic in the film-making industry.Although the casting and soundtrack were assembled with the help of myspace, the screenplay was written by UK-based writer David Lemon.Professional Viking re-enactors from UK-based company "The Vikings" formed part of the cast alongside Romano-British society "Britannia" Also a specialist stunt team from East 15 Acting School took part in filming the large battles under the Fight Direction of Richard Ryan

synergy....
Synergy is the coming together of two seperate media
texts in such a way to benefit both.
• Features Diversity and Flawless from Britains Got Talent
•The UK’s first street dance movie and also the first UK full-length feature to be shot in 3D.
• Soundtrack to be released at the same time
Cross platform viral marketing
Future for Vertigo
• Have already been very innovative with comparatively small budget.
• Consistent practitioners (Nick Love director).
• How can they expand & diversify?
• Will they? Should they?
• Will they do a deal with a big company as Working Title did with Universal?
