VERNON HARGREAVES, FLORIDA DEFENSIVE BACK #1. Vernon Hargreaves is a starting Junior CB for the Florida Gators. Hargreaves is very athletic with great body control to move with receivers. He is small, which is a concern at the next level when playing bigger receivers. Quicker than fast, teams will take advantage of his size and speed. Very good in press, off, and zone coverage. Lacks jamming receiver when in press. Able to read quarterbacks eyes and jump route. He’s a ball hawk, very good hands. Ten interceptions in three seasons at Florida. Very good vertical jump, goes for the ball at the highest point and competes for it. Constantly around the ball, explodes to it. Very good tackler, chest up. Has an aggressive play, makes him susceptible to double moves. Special teams player, most likely will be a kick or punt returner early. Very good player, a playmaker, and should succeed at the next level despite his size and lack of speed.
