!  Sharper Shape is a start-up company established in June 2013 after a year long research project ACCA. (Automatic Corridor Clearance Analysis

!  Sharper Shape creates solutions to optimize power distribution companies asset management processes especially for vegetation management process.

!  Sharper Shapes main product is ACCA service with fully automatically analysis LIDAR data and recognizes all objects that can now or in future danger electricity distribution.

!  Last year Sharper Shape analyzed 10000 km of distribution network

Prioritization problem

!  Distribution companies have huge amounts of issues so how to prioritize which issues should be managed this year.

!  The data itself or the observation made from the data have no value them self. What customer wants to know is what he should do this year.

Solution using FME

!  We created Sharper Maintenance product to prioritize and to visualize the vegetation observations and to create ready vegetation management plans and work orders that customer could send to its subcontractors.

!  We found that there were 3-5 times more issues in the areas that our solution produced than on the network generally.

!  This enabled need based vegetation management.

Additional services using FME

!  FME is perfect to fulfill customer specific small needs !  For example one customer wanted to be able to create

cross-section images from network and it was done using FME

!  Also all data conversions from customer NIS system to our systems are done with FME.

ESA satellite data and Sharper Shape

!  Sharper Shape was selected by ESA (European Space Agency) to study how satellite data could be used to help power distribution companies asset management.

!  Because the satellite data’s resolution a lot lower than for example from helicopter new kind of data analysis methods needed to be created.

!  We created change raster to see were there have been changes over some period of data and that chance raster is than compared against business rules using FME.
