Vee Speers

Thirteen

Thirteen

• Vee Speers Thirteen photography shoot was in fact based on her daughters childhood and the growing pains and the wanting of her own independence. After Vee Speers had pictures the children in The Birthday Party, in Thirteen she has used her own daughter and using a plain grey wall to show childhood growing into the adult world with all the independence and a new found freedom. The aesthetics of the Thirteen pictures are all of the young girl and showing of her beauty in many ways involving using object and nature to give a effect on the picture. In most of the pictures in Thirteen the girl seems as if she is looking and is in deep thought about what is coming ahead as the pictures are based in the new independence she is gaining. A lot of nature is involved in the pictures of Thirteen by leaves, swans and butterflies.

Immortal

Immortal.

• Vee Speers Immortal photo shoot is based upon have beautiful youths with a forest type theme background. These youths are real but some how they seems trapped and enclosed from the outside world. The pictured are a mixture of natural beauty and airbrushed Photoshop perfection. Immortal photo shoot is more about nature and the natural beauty held within the person themselves and the background. Comparing the Immortal against the Thirteen photo shoot, Thirteen is more about the girl in the picture where as Immortal is about the nature infused background and plain models. Personally I don’t really like the Immortal photos, I prefer the Thirteen pictures more as they have more emotions and feelings connected to them than the Immortal pictures. Immoral pictures seem almost dead and not have a a lot consisting of them and most of them are all the same.

The Birthday Party

The Birthday Party

• In The Birthday Party photo shoot Vee Speers has let her imagination gone wild. With the faces of the children looking straight at the camera it creates that dramatic effect. In this project Vee Speers used the fantasy the same as she did in another project called Bordello but in The Birthday Party she has pared down the aesthetics that amplifies the visual intensity thought its simplicity. Each picture in The Birthday Party every child is hyped up and looks like they are looking forward to hours on entertainment. Almost every child’s face has the same facial expression this makes all the pictures seem the same and in my opinion makes it quite boring.

My interpretation. • Here I attempted at taking a picture like Vee

Speers did. I don’t think it was very good although the main picture and how the my sister is positioned is the same as the Vee Speers one the effect and the back ground didn’t work. To improve next time I shall take more than one so I can choose my favourite and the best one and maybe edit it to make it the best it can be.

Parisians

Parisians

• In Vee Speers photo shoot the Parisians the key message which is coming across is the photographers keen eye for detail and symbolism as her subjects perform dramatically for the viewer, or pose against a backdrop. Speers dramatic set-ups are memories and things which remind Vee of her experience she had being with the circus. These pictures are vey unique and I don’t completely understand them all but then I suppose you don’t understand anything at the circus either. Some of the pictures are very clever and how they have been taken was just right to get the effected needed to get the picture right. In my opinion these pictures are all of what to unique for my liking and I don’t really like them. They are also all been edited to be made black and white which gives that dark and unhappy feel as colour seems to add life and emotion into a picture.

BORDELLO

Bordello

• ‘The twighlight of Vee Speers photos of beautiful women causes the viewer to merge with the surroundings of the image and enter a kind of dream-like vision of an often sordid reality. Shapes lose definition and imagination overweighs perception. Real life is left behind… the boundaries between subject and photographer become more and more indistinct’

• These pictures almost seem like the people in the picture have recently had a rough time or been heart broken I get this feeling from the mood in the picture and the facial expressions being presented. The women almost don’t seem to care and are just presenting them selves across as how they feel comfortable.

‘Paris is one of those cities

where people can express

themselves as they like, and no-one bats an eye-lid. It’s easy to

be inspired here.’

Vee Speers took all o f her pictures in Paris she believes..
