LITURGIA DEL DIA / TODAY’S LITURGY
Page Four Holy Trinity Sunday • June 11, 2017 Página Cuatro
First Reading: Exodus 34: 4-6, 8-9 Early in the morning Moses went up Mount Sinai as the Lord had commanded him, taking along the two stone tablets. Having come down in a cloud, the Lord stood with Moses there and proclaimed his name, "Lord." Thus the Lord passed before him and cried out, "The Lord, the Lord, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity." Moses at once bowed down to the ground in worship. Then he said, "If I find favor with you, O Lord, do come along in our company. This is indeed a stiff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins, and receive us as your own." Word of the Lord, Thanks be to God
Responsorial Psalm: Daniel 3 Glory and praise for ever!
Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 13: 11-13 Brothers and sisters, rejoice. Mend your ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the holy ones greet you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. Word of the Lord, Thanks be to God
Alleluia, Alleluia: Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; to God who is, who was, and who is to come. Alleluia, Alleluia.
Gospel: Juan 3: 16-18 God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be con-demned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. Word of the Lord, Thanks be to God
THE HOLY TRINITY AND CHRISTIAN LIFE
The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central
mystery of Christian faith and life. It is the mys-
tery of God in himself. In this feast the mystery of
the revelation of God is welcomed: he has
loved the world so much that he came to the
gift of redemption in his Only Begotten Son. This
is possible thanks to the new condition of the
baptized person, by the theological virtues. By means of the
theological virtues, which elevate us to a supernatural level,
we can experience a growing friendship with each of these
divine Persons. This is what the Liturgy of today intends. In this
mysterious experience, joy, operative peace, the ideal of
holiness and personal and communal perfection, fraternal
harmony and enthusiasm for the whole ecclesial community
are founded. Faith allows us to accept the mystery without
questioning it. Faith helps us to see that God is truth itself and
can not deceive himself nor deceive us. Hope gives us con-
fidence and firm assurance that we will enjoy joyful eternity
despite the difficulties of this life. Love, finally, makes us give
ourselves without limits to reflect the glory and goodness of
God in our brothers and sisters.

REFLEXION DOMINICAL
a largo plazo.
THE PROMISES FROM GOD
We like miracles and prodigious signs. We want solutions
for everything, and fast ones. We lack patience or inner
wisdom to see the larger picture and what is coming in the
long run. Sometimes we seem to need miracles in order to
be convinced about something. After all, we think, God
can do all things and he loves us, so God could make a
sickness disappear, can protect us from danger, or can
make us to win the lottery. It is true that God can do all
things, but he often does not show his love and power
through miracles, because he does not want to “earn” our
love through miracles, but through something much more
important, because it involves our good in the long run;
that is, for eternity.
Miracles could solve our problems for a limited time, but
that ends and then we face another difficulty and we
would need another miracle, and another, and another.
Instead, God does something much more wonderful,
amazing, and extraordinary; in the first place, he comes
into the world and lives as a human being, with all our
pains, problems, and joys; then, in the person of Christ,
conquers his own death and, through his resurrection, con-
quers our death. With this victory, Christ represents the ful-
fillment of all the promises of God in the Old Testament:
God would watch over the people, would protect them,
and would be faithful to them. In turn, people are only
asked for faithfulness. It seems like a very simple thing, but
it is rather difficult for everyone.
Faithfulness to God means not seeking false gods in mon-
ey, prosperity, work, or an addiction. It means to keep our
gaze fixed on what is important, which is love for God and
love for the others. Love is not simply a nice feeling, but an
active attitude of generosity and service, of attention to
the things of God, of self-sacrifice for the good of others. It
is a faithfulness that challenges and invites us to demon-
strate the power of the resurrection of Jesus in our life: by
conquering evil and having goodness reign; by forgiving in
our hearts; by not losing hope in the face of problems and
difficulties; by extending a friendly hand to others. By not
letting ourselves be swayed by temptations to close our-
selves up in our own selfishness, we make the fruits of the
resurrection of Christ visible in the world; and that is much
more important and miraculous than any other miracle.
For Reflection
In which ways do I live the resurrection of Christ in my daily
life and make it present in the world? What kinds of things
do I do that express that daily miracle of life? What mira-
cles of life and love do I see in others?
