Today’s robotics industry is characterized by a high degree of innovation and rapid tech-nological developments. As a core element of automation, robots take center stage in strate-gic business decision-making. And against the background of digitalization and the future of work, they will play a central role, for example when it comes to human-machine interaction.

Integrated Assembly Solutions – much more than the sum of its parts

Out of millions of components, Integrated Assembly Solutions (IAS) creates new products every day. A variety of processes, such as as-sembling, handling, joining, forming, measu-ring, testing, dosing or labelling are important here. The sector’s enterprises design and build the components and systems needed for these tasks – in order to come to smart and highly productive solutions.

Machine Vision – when machines see and comprehend

Cameras generate images that are automati-cally analysed by software. Machine vision sys-tems perform quality tests, guide machines, control processes, identify components, read codes and deliver valuable data for optimizing production.

Machine vision is constantly capturing new fields of application – also beyond the arena of manufacturing – always striving for higher quality, efficiency and product safety.

We support our members in market develop-ment worldwide - through trade fairs, digital formats, marketing tools, and our offices in Shanghai, Mumbai and Brussels. We are the conceptual sponsor of the leading internatio-nal trade fairs automatica and VISION.

5. Standards Development

Standards are the turbocharger for our indus-try. Together with our members we develop the necessary specifications, guidelines and standards – ranging from ISO-Standards for robotics and VDMA Specifications to standards for Industry 4.0. With our OPC UA initiative, we are currently creating the communication standards for the digital factory of the future.

6. Representing Interests

To remain at the forefront, we must drive ahead innovation and technological progress in Europe. To this end, we cultivate cross-bor-der cooperation, also with associations from all over the world. Our technologies are changing the world. For the better. We are constantly promoting this stance in the public debate about the impact of new technologies and the future of work. We show what our industry is achieving and why it is an attractive employer.

Better Working ConditionsAutomation can relieve people of monoto-nous, physically demanding or even unhealthy tasks. The baby boomer generation will be retiring soon while birth rates remain low.

This will massively reduce the potential workforce in Europe over the next 20 - 40 years. Increased automation can make a major contribution to solving this problem.

people at the center. This requires training opportunities, collaborative and assistive tech-nologies, and robots that are intuitive to use and easy to program.
