VCHS Graduation Requirements• 1. English – 4 credits (4 years)• 2. Science – 3 credits (3 years)• 3. Mathematics – 3 credits (3 years)• 4. Social Science – 3 credits

• No required social science in Freshman year

• 5.Physical Education – 1credit• 6. Fine Arts/Speech – 1credit

(.5 cr. Debate, speech, Forensics / .5 cr. Music, dramaJournalism)

• 7. Information Technology - .5 credit• 8. 10.5 Elective Credits

Freshman Required Courses

• Physical Education – 1 credit• English – 1 credit (one of three courses):

• Freshman English, Pre-AP English 9, or Honors 9/10 English

• Science – 1 credit (one of two courses):• Physical Science or Integrated Unified Science

• Math – 1 credit (one of 4 courses):• Algebra I, Geometry, Honors Geometry or Pre-Algebra

• Electives – 3 credits, selected from those listed on the enrollment form

• Alternate Electives – (choose 6 courses)

Kansas RegentsQualified Admissions Standards1. Complete the precollege or Kansas Scholars

Curriculum with minimum GPA of 2.0

2. Achieve one of the following:• ACT of 21 or higher, or• SAT of 980 or higher, or• Graduate in top one-third of their class• AND – Earn a 2.0 GPA on any college class taken in high

school

Regents Qualified AdmissionPrecollege Curriculum

• English – 4 units or credits• Natural Science – 3 units or credits

• At least 1 unit must be Chemistry or Physics

• Math 3 units or credits from the following:• Algebra I; Geometry; Algebra II; any course with Algebra II

as a prerequisite AND• Students must meet the ACT college readiness

benchmark (22 or higher on math portion of ACT)• Students not meeting the ACT benchmark will enroll in a

4th unit of math in their senior year

NCAA Clearing HouseInitial Eligibility• For Division I full qualifier:• 16 core courses in the following areas:

• 4 years of English• 3 years of mathematics (Algebra I or higher)• 2 years of natural/physical science• 1 year of additional English, math or science• 2 years of social sciences• 4 years of additional core courses from the above or from

foreign language• Minimum GPA of 2.3 in those 16 core courses• Must complete 10 core courses before 7th semester of

high school

Hutchinson Community College & Valley Center High School

NEW NCCER Course Offering (National Center for Construction Education Research). Residential Carpentry II (Receive up to 8 college credit hours and credentialed certificate program.) This course will meet for two consecutive periods daily.

Safety Orientation 1 Credit Hour Introductory Craft Skills 3 Credit Hours Basic Carpentry 4 Credit Hours

Dual/concurrent credit will be awarded to VC students enrolled for NCCER Residential Carpentry II.
