Willie Desjardins became the 18th Head Coach in Canucks history on June 23, 2014.Desjardins served as Head Coach of Texas for two seasons compiling a 91-40-21 (.667) regular season record in 152 AHL games and led theStars to a Calder Cup Championship in 2014. He was awarded the Louis A. R. Pieri Award in 2013. Desjardins also served as an AssociateCoach with Dallas for two years.From 2002-2010 Desjardins was Head Coach of Medicine Hat (WHL) adding the role of GM in 2005. Desjardins twice led the Tigers toWHL championships in 2003.04 and 2006.07 seasons. In two Memorial Cup berths Desjardins’ Tigers advanced to the Finals once in 2007.Desjardins was awarded the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy (WHL) and presented with the Brian Kilrea Coach of the Year Award (CHL). Internationally, Desjardins has represented Canada as Head Coach in 2010 (silver) and Assistant Coach in 2009 (gold) at the World JuniorChampionships. The Blackhawks recorded a 7-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place last night.

Marian Hossa collected a team-, season- and Blackhawks career-high four points (1g, 3a) in the win.

Jonathan Toews scored two goals, marking his second multi-goal game of the season and 28th of his career.

Duncan Keith, Kris Versteeg (1g 1a), Marcus Kruger and Patrick Kane (1g, 1a) also scored for the Blackhawks.

Brandon Saad recorded two assists and tied Toews with a game-high plus-three rating.

Corey Crawford turned aside 24 of 25 shots on goal in his third consecutive win and fifth in six games.

Chicago outshot Edmonton 30-25 ... The Blackhawks seven goal is a new season high.  

TEAM NOTESTonight marks the third game of the Blackhawks' annual "Circus Trip" ... Since Joel Qunneville was hired as head coach on Oct. 16, 2008, Chicago is22-9-2 and have outscored opponents 111-83 on the trip ... The Blackhawks went 6-1-0 on the trip last season ... Patrick Sharp (18), Patrick Kane (15) and Jonathan Toews (14) lead Chicago in goals on the annual West Coast swing. Chicago has yielded a League-low 2.00 goals allowed per game. The Blackhawks' +22 goal differential is tops in the Western Conference.
