Fire Tested Flanged Ball Valves
The 5000 Series is an ANSI Class 150 valve. The 6000Series is an ANSI Class 300 valve.
Available in 1/2 through 8 ull port, and 1/2

Description
The Marwin 5000/6000 Series is designed to meet the demanding requirements o processing industries.These ball valves oer a heavy stem/ball drive or durability, which is especially important in automated andhigh requency operations.
The standard port and small ull port valves are uni-body construction. Internal parts are assembled throughthe large end o the one-piece body, which is closed o by a threaded end-entry plug to compress the foat-
ing ball in the central cavity between the seats.
The large ull port valves are split body construction with an extra heavy center fange to bolt the two halveso the body together around the ball and seats to compress them together. This center fange is designedin accordance with ANSI end fange specications. The advantage o the ull port valve is that it has a ulldiameter, straight construction-ree fow path, so that it has about the same fow capacity as a similar sizepiece o pipe. It suers no extra pressure loss, as may be the case with other valve types that have obstruc-
tion or curved fow paths.
Key Features
Blow-out Proo Stem with Anti-Static Device: The stem is a one-piece, blow-out proo design, with an inte-gral, high shear strength shoulder. It is inserted rom inside the body against a mating heavy integral shoul-der in the body, so that it cannot blow out. A spring loaded anti-static device maintains constant electrical
contact between the ball and stem to avoid a static discharge.
Floating Ball and Encapsulated Seats: The 5000/6000 Series ball valve utilize a foating ball design to insurepositive downstream shut-o. The ball is compressed between the seats by the threaded end plug in theuni-body design, or by the center-fange bolts in the split body design. This preloads the foating ball. Theupstream pressure pushes the "foating ball" tighter against the downstream seat to insure tight sealing andpositive shuto. The encapsulated seats are retained on three sides by the body. This provides better sup-port or the sot seats, so that they hold up better in severe services. It also isolates them rom the fow path,
so that they are not exposed to velocity erosion or impact damage while the ball is open.
Fire Safe ValveThe 3/4" through 6" 5000R / 6000R standard port valve and 5000F /6000F ull port valves with appropriate body materials, seats and seals,can be certied "re tested to API 607, 4th Edition." Applicable materi-als are:
body carbon (WCB and A105) and stainless steel (CF8M, A419S31600)seats PTFE, RPTFE, and CRPTFEpacking graoilbody seal graphite or split body design
Use an "FS" prex with the ordering code on page 5 o this bulletin.A key eature o re sae valves is an eective secondary metal backupseat. The 5000/6000 Series has a precision machined metal seat onthe inside diameter o the sot seat that is closely matched to the ballcontour. This provides maximum metal seat load or better sealing in
the event the sot seats are destroyed by re.
Another important eature o a re sae valve is a spring loaded pack-ing. The 5000/6000 Series has a Belleville washer loaded packinggland to maintain the stem seal. Special Nitronic 60 stem and pack-ing thrust washers are used to help maintain packing load under reconditions.

FL5000/FL6000 Series Fusible Link Valve
Fusible link valves spring closed or open when high temperature heat rom a re causes a usible link tobreak. The most common application is to ail close to shut o the fow o fammable liquids or gases duringa re. They are also used as ail open valves to allow the fow o water o re extinguishing chemical in resuppression systems.
The 5000/6000 Series is available with an improved usible link assembly.
Valve sizes 1/2" R through 2" R, and 1/2" F through 1-1/2"F use the "mid-torque" series usible link assem-bly (160 to 830 in-lb.). A detachable arming handle is used to arm the usible link assembly, while theoriginal valve handle can be used or manual operation when the usible link assembly is armed.
Valve sizes 3" through 10" R and 2" F through 8" F use the "high torque" series usible link assembly (835to 21000 in-lb). A declutchable manual override gear operator is used to arm the assembly, and can alsobe used to operate the valve when the usible link assembly is disarmed.
Both assemblies eature a heavy-duty spring assembly, high quality mounting adapters and usible linksavailable in a wide range o temperatures (135F (57C), 165F (74C), 212F (100C), 280F (138C),
and 380F (193C)).
Fusible link sizing depends upon valve torque, which in turn depends upon size, type, seal material,media, pressure, temperature, and requency o operation. The torque given in the technical data orthe 5000/6000 Series are or valves with RPTFE or CRPTFE seats operated several times daily. Aminimum service actor o 1.2 is recommended or valves with PTFE seats, and 1.5 or valves with RPTFEor CRPTFE seats.
In addition, valves with usible links should be periodically operated.

The 5000F/6000F split body sizes (1-1/2" through 8") areavailable with characterized fow control inserts or a
precise control valve giving high pressure drop capabil-ity with straight-through fow and bubble-tight shut o.The throttling part o the valve is a characterized metalinsert located behind the upstream sot seat. A groovein the insert mates with a pin in the end cap to insureproper assembly and prevent rotation. This protects theseats rom high velocities and insures bubble-tight shuto when required. The sot seats and/or the character-ized inserts can be changed in the eld or renewal or tomeet changing control requirements.
Standard inserts are available with a linear slot, 30, 60and 90 V slots, and ull fow round inserts. As shownon the accompanying throttling curve chart, these giveapproximately 6%, 12%, 25%, 50% and 100% o ullround port fow. In addition, special inserts (or example,keyhole slots or combination linear-V slots) can be de-signed to meet specic fow conditions.
