Hello My Brothers All: An old year has come to a close, and a new year hasbegun! What we make of this year will be up to us..... allof us. In reflection, we have enjoyed another successfulyear. We tightened our budget a bit more; continued thetheatrical conferral of all 29 degrees; recognized andpresented our new brothers with their patents, that will nodoubt become a part of their keepsake items;acknowledged and reflected on the loss of our Brothersduring our Ceremony of Remembrance and Renewal;celebrated the Feast of Tishri, Christmas and Hanukkah;on Flag Day we honored the flag of our country and thosewho protect the freedoms we enjoy; and generallyenjoyed the fellowship of being one with the other, as wedid the work of our Fraternity with a strong focus onLiberality, Brotherly Love and Charity. As we start the year we will continue to tighten ourfinancial belt, recognize and present, acknowledge andreflect, and honor and enjoy! It is the blending of theseactions and behaviors that encourage us to continue ourcommitment to Freemasonry, more especially the ScottishRite. History is important, but as quoted - "whenmemories exceed dreams, the end is near!" Anorganization grows by looking forward, and learns byreflecting. Let's look forward as we start this year, andcontinue instilling the actions and behaviors mentionedabove in all that we do, so that we grow and prosper inpeace and harmony. The 2nd Annual Celebrating the Craft Web-A-Thon onMay 18, 2013, is quickly approaching. Last year over$400,000 was raised to help with rebuilding the House ofthe Temple. In support of this year's event, the threeitems listed below require your support. • A search for talent is on to represent the Orient of Florida and the Valley of Orlando during the event. • Do we as a Valley want to participate? Your ideas for a Valley event are solicited. • Twelve 2 minute videos will be includedhonoring men who have gone above and beyond to helpothers and serve their community. The guidelines for the talent search, and to submit anomination to honor a community hero are posted on theSouthern Jurisdiction Scottish Rite Website –

www.scottishrite.org. Both the talent call and submissionof a community hero are required to be submitted byFebruary 28th, 2013. If you desire to be considered astalent or submit a community hero, please let me know. What a great opportunity for Orlando to participate. Please send any ideas for consideration, on how we as aValley might participate to Keith or I, and we will sharethem with the Executive Committee who will evaluate, andsee if there are one or two that fit the size and scope of our Valley. Your ideas are greatly appreciated! A quick reminder that our Spring Reunion on the 13th and14th of April 2013 is around the corner. Now is the timeto turn petitions in to Keith, our General Secretary, whowill ensure they follow their usual Masonic course. Please remember the Scottish Rite Foundation of Florida,Inc. in your gift giving and charitable planning; not justthis year, but each and every year in moving forward. Please know that over 93% of monies given to theFoundation go to support the programs that support our children at the various clinics. As we each continue our search for "more light" in ourMasonic journey, please remember that – “the spirit of fraternity reigns supreme” - it is the essence of why webecame and remain members of this great fraternity of Freemasonry, in which the Scottish Rite serves as its“University.” Until next time, be safe in your travels and remember to“whisper wise counsel in the ear of an erring brother,” andrespect the dignity of all, as it makes you and ourorganization stronger one action at a time. Thanks foryour continuing support and participation! Fraternally, ILL Chester A. King, 33° Personal Representative

Scottish Rite Foundation for Florida, USA, Inc. Robert J. Morrow, 32° KCCH

Over the past few years, I have come to realize that some of our members and their ladies do not fully understand the connection of the Scottish Rite Foundation to the Childhood Language Clinics.

As simple as I can explain it, our Foundation consists of 11 Trustees from each Valley in the Orient of Florida. The Foundation is chaired by our SGIG Dale Goehrig and is charged with raising money to be used for the treatment of children who have learning and speech disorders. The Foundation does not own the clinics we are associated with. We support the treatment of these children by providing the necessary funds for those children who have no other source of paying for the treatment they need.

In other words we are the last resort for treatment these children may have, and without the support from our Foundations Funds these children would not receive the treatment they require to become contributing, competent and productive citizens in society.

To accomplish our goals, we raise funds throughout the state of Florida. Each Valley hosts a variety of events and fund raisers all year long. In the Valley of Orlando we have an annual Put-Put Challenge and Auction combined with a dinner, capitalizing on a fun event and great meal.

We also have the Millionaire and Billionaire program. If a member donates $100.00, they become a Scottish Rite Millionaire. They can continue to donate as often as they can and when they reach $1000.00, They become a Scottish Rite Billionaire.

The names of members who become Millionaires and Billionaires are added to the respective plaques in the lobby. If donating $100.00 is difficult or next to impossible, you can donate as little as $10.00 at a time to the Millionaire Bill Program. You can make a $10.00 donation and a Star is added to your bill, when you reach $100.00 you will become a Millionaire and your name is added to the plaque in the lobby.

The Scottish Rite Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization and your donations to the Foundation are Tax Deductible. We are planning on having another Put-Put Challenge and Auction this year. The date is not yet set, however it is not to early donate items for the Auction. We had a great time last year and are hopping to have an even better time this year.

Thank you for your continued support of the Foundation.

14th Degree Ring Ceremony

The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, with its honors and obligations, touches all aspects of a new Candidate's Life. It is important,

therefore, that his lifelong Masonic journey continue after receiving the Scottish Rite degrees. In an effort to signify this continuation

and to involve the Brother's Lady in understanding a small part of the significance of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, the Fourteenth

Degree Ring Ceremony is being held for our Fall Reunion Class.

The Ring Ceremony with its color, warmth and dignity is meant to impress upon the wives and ladies of the Candidates their new

status upon his attaining the Fourteenth Degree and to make them feel that they are also a part of the Scottish Rite. Please make every

effort to attend our February 22, 2013 stated meeting to witness the 14th Degree Ring Ceremony and extend a hearty welcome to

these newly made Masters of the Royal Secret and their ladies.

It is a great honor and privilege to serve as the Venerable Master of the Knights of St. Andrew for the 2013 year. I would like to thank all those who made this possible, and thank my brother Knights who stepped forward to fill the remaining officer positions. The KSA is looking forward to the 2013 calendar of events scheduled at the Rite and will take a leadership role whenever the opportunity presents itself. With the support of my fellow officers and all my Brother Knights, we hope to make 2013 one of the most productive years thus far. Brother Michael D. Hemphill, 32° KCCH , has stepped forward to be our Red Hat advisor. Illustrious Martin Schwebel has agreed to be our White Hat advisor.
