Easter or Resurrection Sunday, is a Glorious Day that was preceded by a horrific day.

Today, Easter Sunday 2019, should be a day of great rejoic-ing as we celebrate the bound-less grace and love of Jesus as He rose victorious over death and the grave. However, let us not forget the unimaginable sac-rifice that He went through that forever proved his boundless

grace and love for all of us. Without the horror, the glory would not have been possible. The horror was all wrapped up in the horrendous deceptions and lies that were at the heart of the evil conviction that sent Jesus to the crucifixion. The crucifixion was, according to the laws and customs of the day, a just way to deal with that society’s worst criminals. However, the deceptions and lies that led to this horrible conviction were the root of evil that surrounded Jesus’ apprehension, prosecution, and execution. Matthew 26:3-5 (NLT) 3 At that same time the lead-ing priests and elders were meeting at the residence of Caiaphas, the high priest, 4 plotting how to cap-ture Jesus secretly and kill him. 5 “But not during the Passover celebration,” they agreed, “or the people may riot.” Luke 22:2 (NLT) The leading priests and teachers of religious law were plotting how to kill Jesus, but they were afraid of the people’s reac-tion. Easter, a horrific day preceded a Glorious DayPastor Stephen Kaneshiro

What is so glorious about all of this is that Jesus did not attempt to defend Himself. It is not because He did not have a defense. In my opinion, it was because of two reasons. First, Jesus’ whole life was His defense. He conducted His life in full view of the people and those who were trying to entrap Him. The full evidence of His innocence was never hidden, but always fully in the light. Second, He knew that He was destined to all that was happening so that He could be the sacrifice that would pay the full penalty for all of our sins. He could have called 10,000 angels to defend Him, but He allowed Himself to be abused and lied about in order to fulfill His role. He knew that His heavenly father was fully able to remove the evil that was before Him. He didn’t want to go through it, but even though He knew that God could, He wanted God’s will to be done. Mark 14:36 (NLT) “Abba, Father,” he cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Jesus’ great example of being fully committed to pleasing and glorifying the Lord is the model that we all must follow. He is the way, the truth, and the life for salvation. But He is also the way, truth, and life in living in this corrupt world of sin and degradation. On this Easter Sunday, I pray that you will give your life to Jesus and let Him be the way, the truth, and the life for you to salvation and to living in this world. God bless you all!!! ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~

*Central Asian Peoples“And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’” (Romans 10:15 NIV). Workers write: “Praise the Lord that he has answered our prayers, as multiple volunteer teams will be coming to this place! Please pray that the Lord will prepare the people who are coming to serve so they will be ready to share the gospel and their lives with the people here. Pray for the hearts of the local people they will meet. May their hearts be open to hearing the Good News. Pray for our team as we grow, transition, and work with these partners who are coming from the United States and with our local church families. Finally, pray for a good transition for one single worker who will be joining our team this summer and for a family who will possibly be returning from the States next month.”

*Kampala, Uganda(kahm-PAH-lah) - “It has recently come to our knowledge that there are four East Asian churches in Kampala,” writes the Kampala Urban Team. “These churches have been struggling with each other. It seems that the older and younger generations don’t see eye to eye. Many have declared that their ‘mission’ is the only real ‘mission,’ and they struggle to see the ideas of others. This is causing great division among the believers. Pray for these groups. Pray that they will put aside differences and see that they are all working toward the same purpose. Pray that if they are seeking to build their kingdom and not the kingdom of God, they will repent and mend those broken relationships. Lift up our friends Shane* and Peyton,* missionaries from East Asia, as they seek to foster reconciliation. Pray that they will be wise in all of their conversations and that they will have strength as they seek to lead these believers forward.” (*names changed)

*Katio of Uraba, Colombia(cah-TEE-oh; ooh-rah-BAH) - Please pray for Cuban missionaries who are going to a new Katio community, “Archer City,” each Monday, where they are sharing evangelistic Bible stories in the hope of starting a church there. Please pray for Nelda,* Mary,* Norman,* and other Katio who are hearing these Bible stories. (*names changed)
