HatThe hat is worked in the round on double-pointed needles, from the bottom up.
Note: The black squares in the chart mean no stitch and should be disregarded.
Cast on 78 sts on 5 mm double-pointed needles. Join in the round and place a marker for the beginning of the round. Begin chart, working the 13 sts of the chart a total of 6 times per round.
Work Row 1-4 a total of 3 times, then work Round 5-12 once.Move the marker 2 sts to the left to make space to work the cable.
Work Row to Row 15. Then work Row 15-18 of the chart a total of 4 times.
Work to Row 40, then knit the remaining 12 sts together 2 and 2 = 6 sts left. Knit another 4 rounds across these sts. Break the yarn and pull the end through the remaining sts.
Weave in all ends. Rinse the hat, put it through a (dry) spin cycle and lay it on a flat surface to dry.
Mittensthe mittens are worked in the round on double-poin-ted needles from the wrist up.

Cast on 34 sts on 5 mm double-pointed needles. Join in the round and place a marker for the beginning of the round. Begin chart, working the chart twice each round.
Work Row 1-4 a total of 4 times. Move the marker 2 sts to the left to make space to work the cable, then work Row 5-12.
Work increases for the thumb on Row 13 of the chart - for the right mitten work the increases at the green marked sts, for the left mitten work the increases at the red marked sts.Work increases on either side of the marked sts as shown in the thumb chart.
Work the increases in the thumb chart until Row 20, then place the 10 thumb stitches on a stitch holder. Cast on 2 new sts in extension of the sts on the ne-edle over the thumb sts.At the same time after Row 17, work Row 18-21 a total of 6 times, then work to Row 36
Break the yarn and pull the end through the remai-ning sts.
ThumbPlace the 10 resting thumb sts onto 2 double-pointed needles, pick up and knit 2 sts from the 2 cast on sts as well 1 more stitch on either side of these 2 sts – place the last 4 sts on another double-pointed needle = 14 sts on the needle.Join in the round and knit 13 rounds.Next round: K2tog around = 7 sts.Break the yarn and pull the end through the remai-ning sts.
Weave in all ends. Rinse the hat, put it through a (dry) spin cycle and lay it on a flat surface to dry.
