Dear Friends,

Hearts & Hands of Indiana is a ministry that celebrates its mission and vision of helping families and individuals by transforming vacancy into vibrancy in our near-west-side community. From our beginning 8 years ago, our commitment and success have been sustained by the generosity we have found in our community, our partners, our volunteers, our donors, and the families we serve.

2016 was no exception! Hearts & Hands closed 2016 with another solid perfor-mance while continuing to be recognized as a leader in community development. During the year, we achieved or exceeded all of our targets:

• Completed and sold 2 homes on N Warman Avenue

• Welcomed 2 new families to the neighborhood

• Celebrated record success in attendance and revenue withthe 7th Annual Houses to Homes Event

• Led initiative to transform N Belleview Place by purchasing 5 properties in the area – 2 of which we will sell in 2017

• Developed Good Neighbor Initiative to help the Hearts & Hands’neighbors maintain properties

• Launched a 3-Year Strategic Plan process with the help of funding fromthe Central Indiana Community Foundation, PNC Bank, the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, and Community Solutions

During 2016, we fostered and expanded partnerships with existing near-west-side organizations, individuals, and the Indianapolis community as a whole in order to effect change on a larger scale while maintaining the highest of standards in all that we do.

We are proud of our short and successful history. As we look forward to the future, we are confident that our new executive director, Suzanne Thompson, will continue our commitment to do what is right for the long-term interest of Hearts & Hands of Indiana and the community we serve.

Thank you for the many ways you participate and contribute to the mission of Hearts & Hands. You are true stewards of God’s many blessings.

Father John McCaslin Tom Egold

BRINGING BEAUTY TO BELLEVIEW

In 2015, Hearts & Hands helped transform and strengthen N Warman Avenue when wecompleted 2 houses next door to each other. Seeing the stabilizing impact this had on the block as a whole, Hearts & Hands decided to duplicate the effort on another street. Only this time, we would not stop at 2 houses. In 2016, Hearts & Hands purchased 5 proper-ties near N Belleview Place with plans to restore community spirit and beauty. Then, with the help of many generous supporters and hard-working volunteers, Hearts & Hands completed the first phase of the Belleview project and will sell 2 of the homes in 2017. Thank you again to all of our volunteers who are helping us transform houses into homes and a block once littered with abandoned properties into a vibrant community. Permanent housing empowers individuals and families. We are once again blown away by your love and dedication to us and to the people we serve.

Together, we really are turning vacancy into vibrancy one family, one house, one block at a time. And in turn, we’re giving our near-west neighbors, old and new, a place to call home.
