PALLIATIVE CARE PHARMACIST Ref: PCP/08/20 HOURS: 18 hours per week SALARY: Equivalent to Agenda for Change Band 8 LOCATION: St John’s House, Newry Southern Area Hospice Services (SAHS) wish to recruit a new senior role of Palliative Care Pharmacist on a 12-month temporary contract. The postholder will work with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) within the hospice to lead, develop and deliver a high quality, patient focused clinical pharmacy service in accordance with local and national priorities for palliative care patients in Southern Area Hospice Services (SAHS) in the in-patient unit, day hospice and community setting as required. The postholder will work with patients, healthcare professionals and other professionals in primary and secondary care to meet the medication related needs of palliative care patients. Applicants must be able to demonstrate: MPharm or equivalent and eligible to register with the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (PSNI) 5 years post registration experience, including 2 years working as a clinical or community pharmacist Post Graduate qualification in a relevant area of pharmacy Currently registered as an Independent Prescriber IT skills sufficient to fulfil the requirements of the role – particularly Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) A valid driving licence and access to transport to fulfil the responsibilities of the role In addition, the following criteria are desirable:

You must have the ability to communicate effectively, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant professionals, self-management skill with regard to time management, self-motivation and ability to meet deadlines, analytical and problem solving skills, excellent influencing and negotiating skills and high motivation and drive in order to actively develop the pharmaceutical service.
