They will also play a key role in developing liaison within the acute Orthopaedic trauma wards. The department has a full range of geriatric medicine services, including inpatient, outpatient and day hospital services and specialist interests of stroke, orthopaedic rehabilitation, falls and movement disorders. The successful applicant for this post will also be part of the team providing acute stroke care in the Western Infirmary. An integrated team of 5 consultants, expanded to 6 by this post, provides a service which includes a 24/7 Thrombolysis Service for North Glasgow, a hyperacute stroke unit and multiple Rapid Access Neurovascular Clinics. The new consultant will participate in the existing acute stroke work and also develop the links between the acute and rehabilitation stroke services. The posts are based initially at Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley (RAH) and Southern General Hospital, Glasgow (SGH) and from 2012 will be based in the single NHSGGC Pathology Department at Southern General Hospital, Glasgow. Both RAH and SGH currently operate a general system of reporting and while development of areas of special interest is encouraged, specialist reporting is not undertaken. Specialisation, if desired, will be available following integration of the departments in 2012. The post based at Southern General Hospital also has a requirement to contribute to the cytology service. You will have the opportunity to help shape the new department and Pathology services for NHSGGC. Do you want to work in one of the largest forensic services in Scotland, whilst continuing your CPD with protected time, and with the opportunity to enhance your teaching and research CV? The Directorate of Forensic Mental Health and Learning Disability covers Greater Glasgow and Clyde, serving a total population of 1.2 million. In addition the Rowanbank Clinic provides medium secure services for the West of Scotland. The Rowanbank Clinic is a 74 bed medium secure forensic unit which opened in June 2007 at Stobhill Hospital. Leverndale Hospital, in south Glasgow, contains a 41 bedded low secure forensic service. There is psychology, occupational therapy and social work provision to both sites. We are seeking applicants for a post providing input into the medium secure forensic services at the Rowanbank Clinic, and the low secure services at Leverndale Hospital. You would participate in all aspects of patient care, including multidisciplinary meetings, risk management and assessment of patients in the Sheriff Court. This is a full time post working Monday to Friday with no on-call commitments, and job share applicants will be considered. The post combines the satisfaction of participating in an innovative and developing clinical service to a patient group with challenging behaviours and severe mental health problems. Opportunities exist for developing skills in risk assessment and risk management, in teaching and in research. The option of developing a prison psychiatry interest is available. They will primarily be based at the Regional Cancer Centre, Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre which is located on the Gartnavel General Hospital site, and will rotate 4 monthly through each of the major site-specialist teams. The Postgraduate Dean confirms that these posts have the required educational and dean's approval. Applicants must possess MRCP (UK) and have completed at least two years' General Professional Training in approved Senior House Officer posts. Non-UK graduates without MRCP must provide written evidence from the Royal College of Physicians of appropriate knowledge, training and experience. This is a 1 year LAT post in Rehabilitation Medicine/Spinal Injuries where particular experience will be gained in Neuro-rehabilitation, spinal injuries, prosthetics and orthotics. There is potential for sub-specialisation in Spinal Paralysis. Facilities available include the 48 bed National Spinal Injury Unit (including a Respiratory Care Unit), a 30 bed purpose built Neuro-rehabilitation unit and one of the largest wheelchair and prosthetics services in Britain. There are links with community rehabilitation teams, and vocational rehabilitation is provided on site. Research facilities are excellent. MRCP (UK / I), FRCS/MRCS, MRC Psych, MRCGP or equivalents are all recognised diplomas for rehabilitation medicine. Applicants should have completed a minimum of two years of General Professional Training. This post holds educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean. If appointed as a Clinical Fellow this will not be recognised for training. The LAT training post is equally open to those who may wish to train flexibly. We are seeking a Speciality Doctor in Palliative Medicine to work alongside our existing Clinical Assistant and two Consultants. ACCORD Hospice has an eight bedded inpatient unit, a busy day therapy unit and a large community team serving the population of Paisley and surrounding area. We also have strong links with the palliative care team in the Royal Alexandra Hospital Paisley. The hospice has a comprehensive multi-professional team and is very active in providing palliative care education to care staff including medical students and doctors of all grades. Your principle roles will be the care of patients in the inpatient and day therapy units supported by the consultants. Full GMC registration, a licence to practice and a minimum of 4 years postgraduate experience will be required. Training in palliative medicine would be provided depending on your experience and educational needs. We would also encourage you to be involved in the hospice’s audit and education programmes and pursue further specialist education depending on your career aims.
