741 THE HOSPITALS ASSOCIATION.—The first meeting df the fifth session of this Association will be held at the Library of the Society of Arts, John-street, Adelphi, on the {2th inst., at 8 P.M., under the presidency of Sir Andrew Clark (president), when a paper will be read by Mr. Henry C. Burdett explanatory of the scheme for the formation of a "National Pension Fund for Hospital Officials and Trained Nurses." Invitation cards may be obtained of Mr. Howard J. THE FRENCH VETERINARY ASSOCIATION.-The Asso- elation of French Veterinary Surgeons, which has just met at Bordeaux, expressed an opinion that the inspection of meat ought to be very much more real than it has been. A vote was also unanimously passed expressing the view of the Association that veterinarians ought to be admitted as members of the National and Departmental Sanitary Councils. A vote passed last year at the meeting held at Lille, to the effect that one of the diplomas of Bachelor of Letters or Bachelor of Sciences ought to be compulsory for veterinary students, was confirmed.
