Requirements on detectors
ELI Workshop, Prague, April 27, 2010 Václav Vrba12
fast – signal registration in 25 ns
high granularity – ability of pattern recognition of more than 1000 tracks generated in
the bunch-crossing
radiation hard – doses up to 1 MGy (100 Mrad) in 10 years of LHC operation
reliable – access usually in 2-3 years (or more) and for only very limited time
Electronics
Sensors
Electrical and mechanical interconnection – bump bonding, low mass cables, etc.
Low mass, radiation resistant and rigid mechanical construction, cooling, etc.

Conclusions
ELI Workshop, Prague, April 27, 2010 Václav Vrba48
Participation in CERN projects significantly facilitated the integration of the
Czech basic research in particle physics in the international research
structures in the field.
The Czech team significantly contributed to the design and construction of
important ATLAS sub-detectors , some key components have been delivered
by the Czech industry. ATLAS has been successfully launched and started to
deliver data.
Expertise acquired in more than decade of ATLAS detector construction can
be used in ELI experiments instrumentation.
