Summer can be a time when Mother Nature

calls to give us her high temperatures to endure.

What do we do? Seek ways to make it more

bearable till there is cooler weather ahead. We

change and adapt to make it a better situation.

Vocations, like summer, can be a time when

God gives us a call we may feel is too hot to

handle. Do we change and adapt to cool our

lives to serve God and His people?

Please pray for all seminarians. Your prayers and

support make a difference.

Help in creating a culture of vocation

REST IN PEACE

† Margaret Schulte,

mother of Richard, Stephen,

and Brian Schulte, Gerri Brewer,

Karen Schnieders, and

Janel Schnieders

† Leon Rackers, husband of Linda,

brother of Janet Kauffman.

May their souls and the souls of all

the faithful departed rest in peace.

The Office of Women’s Ministry

at the diocese is asking for

two women from every parish

to serve as a liaison between

the parish and the Office of

Women’s Ministry. If you would

like to serve or if you know

someone you think would be

a good fit, please let me know.

This is a new ministry at the

diocese and the program so

far has been very successful.

The diocese is looking for better

ways to reach out to

parishioners and this is one way

they are asking us to help

create a program to better

serve all the faithful in our parish

and diocese.

Peace and God Bless!

Fr. Doke

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR

NEWLY BAPTIZED

† Jase Patterson, Sydnie Patterson

and Payten Patterson, children of

Jacob and Whitney Patterson.

CONFIRMATION

Beginning in the fall of 2022, we will

celebrate the sacrament of

Confirmation in the parish every other

year with the bishop. At that time, the

7th and 8th graders who have not

received the sacrament will be able

to receive it. If you are older than the

7th grade and would like to receive

the sacrament at a time other than

our scheduled date with the Bishop,

please contact Fr. Doke to make

arrangements for that to happen.

Catholic or know someone who is,

END OF LIFE DECISIONS

Many of us have faced difficult

decisions that must be made when a

love one’s life is ending. We wonder

what is the Church’s stand on this?

Can I ask that my loved one not be

resuscitated in the event he or she is

at home? Msgr. Greg Higley will

examine these issues and guide us in

our decision making at 6:30pm on

Thursday, October 6 at St. Andrew’s

Church in Holts Summit.

LATIN MASS

EVENTS IN THE DIOCESE

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

Our prayer shawl ministry has given

away many shawls in the last few weeks

and we have been honored to do so.

However, we need to replenish our

supply of yarn. If you have any yarn

you don’t want, our ministry would

appreciate having it. Please remember

to call if you or someone you know

would like a shawl. There is no charge.

Also, if you knit or crochet and would like

to join our ministry, call Shirley Schwarzer

at 301-0375. We would love to have you.

Thank you for your generosity and

support of the ministry.

OCTOBER COUNT

Once again, we will be doing our annual

attendance count each weekend

during the month of October. This is a

practical tool for pastoral planning for

our parish and for use throughout the

diocese.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BINGO

Mark your calendars for Monday,

October 4. The Knights of Columbus will

be hosting a Players’ Appreciation Night

at Bingo, beginning at 6:30pm.

FEAST OF ST. FRANCIS

Mark your calendars for Sunday,

October 3. In honor of St. Francis, we will

have a blessing of the animals at 2pm in

front of school.

STEWARDSHIP

The four pillars of stewardship are

Hospitality, Prayer, Formation and

Service. These pillars invite us to

experience, witness and live the

stewardship way of life in response

to our baptismal call to discipleship.

Each baptized person is called to give

of time, talent and treasure to strengthen

these four pillars that support our parish

community.

STEWARDSHIP PILLAR: FORMATION

“I, the Lord, your God, teach you what is

for your good, and lead you on the way

you should go.” -Isaiah 46:17

To grow as Christian stewards, all

Catholics, young and old, must receive

ongoing education (formation) in the

faith. An understanding of stewardship

is essential to bringing us closer to God

because stewardship leads us to

holiness. Formation of each individual

becomes part of the formation of the

parish community. As members of the

Body of Christ, our parish has a call from

God to give and share His giftedness.

Inherent within each individual is the

need to give-to move from selflessness.

Formation helps ignite and inspire a life-

long journey of conversion. As one

grows more deeply in formation, the

more deeply one loves as God Loves us.
