Ambassador Harry Thomas is the QBS Learning Board Chairperson. He is one of the nation’s most experienced diplomats and holds the State Department’s second highest rank of Career Minister. Over his 30 year career, he has represented the United States abroad as an Ambassador three times and served in senior positions at the State Department and the White House. He has managed strategic planning and budgeting at levels well over $1billion at U.S. Embassies in Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Zimbabwe. As the State Department’s Director General, he oversaw recruitment, retention, promotion, and training programs in the United States and185 nations. He was the Diplomat in Residence and adjunct professor at Arizona State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Holy Cross and a master’s degree from Columbia University. He speaks Spanish and Hindi, as well as some Bengali and Tagalog. He is the recipient of the State Department’s Distinguished Service Award among other prominent leadership awards. He enjoys golf and connecting with friends via social media around the world. Ambassador Thomas is married with three children.
