PWPS has an extensive, proven history of producing industry-

leading technological solutions. This advantage is created

by applying proprietary technology to provide new and

innovative solutions for industrial customers.

PWPS has improved upon the OEM offering by designing

parts that minimize oxidation, creep, and metal temperature

ultimately extending part life and reducing operating costs.

PWPS parts incorporate several design changes to address

field distress issues including: optimized internal cooling to

reduce metal temperature without increasing cooling air

requirements; platform cooling to address platform thermal

mechanical fatigue (TMF); modified geometry to reduce

stresses that lead to cracking; blade tip cooling enhancements

to improve repairability at overhaul; and refined placement of

film cooling holes to address local areas of distress.

V94.3Ax 1st Stage Blade:

The 1st stage blade is manufactured using a proprietary

single crystal nickel superalloy tailored for large industrial

parts and licensed from Pratt and Whitney. PWPS uses a

metallic bond coat applied by High Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF)

with a ceramic thermal barrier coating (TBC) top coat. This

coating reduces base metal temperature to provide superior

protection against oxidation, coating spallation, and TMF

cracking. A vapor phase aluminide coating licensed from Pratt

and Whitney provides improved oxidation and corrosion

resistance for the internal cooling passages.

V94.3Ax 2nd Stage Blade:

The 2nd stage blade is manufactured using a directionally

solidified nickel superalloy tailored for large industrial parts

and licensed from Pratt and Whitney. The 2nd stage blade

has a metallic bond coat applied by HVOF and a TBC top

coat. This combination of alloy and coating provides superior

protection against oxidation and TMF cracking. For improved

internal cooling passage oxidation and corrosion resistance,

this part also incorporates an aluminide coating licensed from

Pratt and Whitney on the internal cooling passages.

Bringing Advanced Aviation Engineering and Technology to the Industrial Market

PW Power Systems (PWPS) goal is to provide value-based gas turbine solutions by incorporating customer feedback

and component optimization with the advantage of more than 90 years of technological expertise.

PWPS leverages Pratt & Whitney® world-renowned hot-section technology to address the needs of the industrial

gas turbine customer.

V94.3Ax 3rd Stage Blade:

The 3rd stage blade is manufactured using René 80

commercially available equiaxed nickel superalloy. The 3rd

stage blade incorporates a coating, applied by HVOF with a

TBC top coat. This combination of alloy and coating provides

superior protection against oxidation and corrosion. For

improved internal cooling passage oxidation and corrosion

resistance, this part also incorporates an aluminide coating

licensed from Pratt and Whitney on the internal cooling

passages. The PWPS part provides optimized internal cooling

to reduce metal temperature without increasing cooling air

requirements.

V94.3Ax 4th Stage Blade:

The 4th stage blade is manufactured using René 80

commercially available equiaxed nickel superalloy. The 4th

stage blade incorporates a chromide coating applied with a

pack cementation process licensed from Pratt and Whitney.

This combination of alloy and coating provides superior

protection against corrosion.

V94.3Ax 1st Stage Vane:

The 1st stage vane is manufactured using a Mar-M-509

commercially available equiaxed cobalt superalloy. PWPS uses

a proprietary metallic bond coat applied by HVOF and a TBC

top coat. The TBC reduces base metal temperature, provides

superior protection against oxidation, coating spallation, and

TMF cracking.

V94.3Ax 2nd Stage Vane:

The 2nd stage vane is manufactured using René 80

commercially available equiaxed nickel superalloy. The 2nd

stage vane incorporates a metallic bond coat applied by HVOF

and a TBC top coat. This combination of alloy and coating

provides superior protection against oxidation and TMF

cracking. For improved internal cooling passage oxidation

and corrosion resistance, this part also incorporates a vapor

deposited aluminide coating licensed from Pratt and Whitney

on the internal cooling passages.

V94.3Ax 3rd Stage Vane:

The 3rd stage vane is manufactured using René 80

commercially available equiaxed nickel superalloy. The 3rd

stage vane incorporates a metallic bond coat applied by Air

Plasma Spray (APS) and a TBC top coat. This combination

of alloy and coating provides superior protection against

oxidation and TMF cracking. For improved internal cooling

passage oxidation and corrosion resistance, this part also

incorporates a vapor deposited aluminide coating licensed

from Pratt and Whitney.

V94.3Ax 4th Stage Vane:

The 4th stage vane is manufactured using René 80

commercially available equiaxed nickel superalloy. The 4th

stage vane incorporates a chromide coating applied with a

pack cementation process licensed from Pratt and Whitney.

This combination of alloy and coating provides superior

protection against oxidation and corrosion.

V94.3Ax 1st and 4th Stage Turbine Guide Ring Segments:

The 1st and 4th stage turbine guide ring segments are

manufactured using an IN-738 commercially available

equiaxed nickel superalloy. The 1st and 4th stage turbine

guide ring segments incorporate a metallic bond coating

applied by APS and a ceramic abradable seal coating. This

combination of alloy and coating provides superior protection

against oxidation.
