MEMBERSHIPAs a current student, you’re already a member! We also offer non-student memberships at $30 per month for UTSA Alumni and current or retired Faculty/Staff. Spouse/Domestic Partners of current members are also eligible to purchase a membership.
Campus Recreation accepts cash, check, credit cards and Rowdy Dollars. Current UTSA Faculty/Staff are eligible for payroll deduction.
To enter any Campus Recreation facility, a Student ID or valid Membership ID is required.

LOCKER RENTALCOIN OPERATED LOCKERS (Main Campus) - Available in the main corridor on the first floor - The cost is 25 cents ($0.25) per use - Belongings left overnight will be removed by Campus Recreation Staff at closing
DAY-USE LOCKERS (Main Campus) - Available on the first floor by the racquetball courts and on the second floor by the Rec and Rowdy Studios - Belongings may not be left overnight. At closing, locks and belongings will be removed by Campus Recreation Staff - You must supply your own lock
LOCKER RENTALS (Main Campus & Downtown) - Rented per semester only - Main Campus: $40/full locker or $24/half locker - Downtown: $24 - Rent at the Membership Services Desk (Main Campus) or the Fitness Center (Downtown) beginning the first day of classes - It’s a first-come, first-serve opportunity - You may share your locker, but only the individual who rented the locker will have access to locker numbers, combinations or contents after clean-out - Lockers not renewed or cleaned out by the expiration date will have the contents removed and stored. Items will be donated to charity after 15 days

ATTIRE GUIDELINES - To create a welcoming and inclusive environment the accepted attire is a t-shirt, tank top or sport top that covers the chest and torso; shorts/pants must be worn at the waist - For safety reasons, patrons must wear shoes in the facilities and are required to wear closed toe, athletic rubber soled shoes in the activity areas - Closed toe non-marking athletic shoes are to be worn on the hardwood floors - Shorts/Pants with exposed buttons and/or zippers are not allowed in the weight and cardio areas

FITNESS COMPETITIONS | NUTRITION | GROUP EX
FITNESS& WELLNESSCampus Recreation offers four weight room and cardio areas, group exercise classes, fitness competitions, demo kitchens, nutrition assessments, personal training, massage services and more! Our knowledgeable staff offer free, drop-in orientations to help you become acquainted with our fitness equipment, programs and services.
GROUP EXERCISE CLASSESWith more than 60 classes per week, our Group Exercise (GX) program is definitely something to check out. Classes are open to all members at no extra fee.
Be sure to participate in the semester-long GX GURU program. Participants with the highest attendance will receive a prize. Ask your instructor for more details!

INSTRUCTIONAL CLASSESThese specialty 6-week Instructional Classes help take your skills to a new level. They are designed for participants to learn and/or improve on a specific skills set. You must register to take part in the class. For details on class offerings or how to register, visit our website.

- Cardio Minute Madness: Complete 150 minutes per week on cardio equipment. - 1000lb Club: Compete in three weight training lifts: Squat, Bench Press and Hang Clean (M) / Deadlift (F). - Weight Room/Cardio Orientations: Learn how to set up and use our variety of weight and cardio machines.

DEMO KITCHEN (6pm)Demo Kitchen cooking sessions are free instructional programs that teach cooking techniques and recipes while focusing on nutritional content. The meals are designed to be healthy, inexpensive and contain ingredients that are easily used in other recipes. The program is interactive and typically lasts 1 hour. Spots are limited. NUTRITION ASSESSMENTS (10:30am-2:30pm)Look further into your food intake and lifestyle habits by taking advantage of this FREE Campus Rec service. With access to our registered dietitian, Annie Bell R.D., you will have the chance to address your nutrition-related questions, assess your nutritional goals and review eating strategies that are specific to your needs and interests. This is a one-on-one appointment that lasts one hour. Spots are limited. Register by emailing [email protected].

1 (15 ounce) can of low sodium black beans, roughly mashed ¼ cup cooked quinoa
½ cup water ½ cup whole wheat bread crumbs
¼ minced yellow pepper 2 tablespoons minced onion
1 clove garlic minced 1 ½ teaspoon cumin
½ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 egg
Combine ingredients and form into 5 patties. Cook patties in large skillet with 3 tablespoons olive oil until heated through,
roughly 2 to 3 minutes per side.

FITNESS ASSESSMENTSWe offer two (2) free assessments per semester for members. Assessments measure body composition, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. Fitness Assessments utilizing Polar BodyAge® are by appointment only. You may register by downloading the appropriate forms on our website or in person at the Membership Services Desk. You can also request the forms by emailing [email protected].
BODY COMPOSITIONDuring the semester, certified Personal Trainers offer drop-in times to check your body composition with calipers. Days and times are posted online and throughout the facility. It is best to be assessed before you workout and it is recommended that you wear shorts.
MASSAGE THERAPYWhen you need a little TLC, we are here for you. For an affordable price, you can purchase a 30, 60 or 90 minute massage. To book your massage, email [email protected].

ORIENTATIONSA one-time orientation is required if you want to check out bikes or boats. A minimum of two and maximum of ten people are required for the orientations to make. To register for an orientation, visit campusrec.utsa.edu. The orientations are offered Wednesdays and Thursdays at the following times:
- Bikes: 4pm-5pm (be prepared to go on a short ride) - Boats: 5pm-6pm (bring your car or truck to the loading dock)
rockwallOur Rockwall is the tallest indoor climbing wall in the UT system and has routes for every skill level and interest. We offer bouldering (climbing without ropes less than 12 feet off the ground), top roping (roped climbing with a belay) either on the 54-foot or 32-foot wall, and lead climbing (sport climbing for intermediate and advanced climbers). Routes are updated on a regular basis and graded with the Yosemite Decimal System up to 5.12 in difficulty.
No experience is necessary. Outdoor Pursuits Rockwall Staff are available to teach you the technique, lingo, and skills needed to be proficient in no time. A brief 10 minute orientation is required of first time users. Belay classes and movement technique clinics are offered to help you gain the skills you need to join the fun.
climbing eventsClimb-a-Palooza Oct. 20 - 24This week-long climbing competition is fun for all levels of climber. Compete as either a beginner or advanced climber in both men and women categories. The competition is a red point format through both bouldering and top rope climbing. Friday night’s grand finale includes competition awards, raffle prizes and a showing of Reel Rock 9. Open to all university and college students with valid student IDs.
Reel Rock Film Tour Oct. 24 (6pm)Reel Rock 9 will feature the full length feature, Valley Uprising. This show highlights the rich history of climbing in Yosemite National Park and the rebellious roots that came along with it. This film will show in the Texas Room after the Climb-a-Palooza grand finale. This is free for Campus Recreation members and visiting competitors.
On Sight Climbing Competition Apr. 13 (1pm)The On Sight climbing competition is a one day, on sight format through both bouldering and top rope climbing. Prizes are awarded for men and women, beginner and advanced categories.
Group Climbs Thursdays (10pm-12am) and Fridays (7pm-9pm)Get your friends or student organization (10 or more people) up on the Rockwall this year. Group Climbs require reservations two (2) weeks in advance and are free for registered student organizations.
climbing skills clinicsTop Rope Belay Tuesdays and Wednesdays (5pm - 7pm)Belaying is the art of holding the rope so climbers remain safe. All climbers at the Rockwall are expected to either take this clinic or challenge the test by their fourth visit to the wall. Clinics have a four person minimum.
Lead Climbing Last Saturday of the month (10am - 2pm)This 4-hour clinic will teach you the fundamentals of lead belaying, clipping protection, rope management, and how to fall gracefully. Like they say, “If you aren’t flying, you aren’t trying.” Clinics have a four person minimum.
Gym to Crag First Monday of the month (1pm - 3pm)The gym to crag series offers new climbers the tricks and techniques needed to safely make the transition from indoor climbing to climbing outside. Topics covered include anchoring, knots, rescue, rappelling, and cleaning anchors. Topics change monthly and can be tailored. Clinics have a two person minimum.
