INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this Handbook is to provide reference information for Utilities located

within Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) Right-of-Ways. This

information aids in the use and maintenance of the Utilities Data Base within Agile

Assets.

The Handbook consists of three color coded sections preceded by the County listing (in

orange.) The first section (light green), includes abbreviations and descriptions for

Encroachment Types, Facilities Types, Folder Types and Utilities Class Codes. The

second section (blue), lists all Current Companies with their WYDOT assigned “Utility

ID” code and any history or remarks. Finally, the third section (purple), lists Historical

Companies with any additional history.

The WYDOT Utility Section takes pride in providing an accurate and useful tool for you,

the user. Your corrections, comments or suggestions are highly encouraged!

This railroad purchased the former C&NW track from Shoshoni to Riverton in 1988. Badwater Rail is owned by Bonneville Transloaders, Inc. of Riverton. Track was removed in 1991 and R/W was placed in a ARail-Bank@. The one active rail/highway crossing is located on the east side of Shoshoni. As of 8/2016 have three licenses: 45000, 51144, & 52394.

In 1985 the natural gas transmission pipelines and processing facilities from Montana-Dakota Utilities; Electric Power & Natural Gas transmission and distribution were assigned to Williston Basin Interstate Pipeline Co., a wholly owned subsidiary and Montana-Dakota is a division of MDU RESOURCES GROUP, INC. In 1993 Williston Basin Interstate Pipeline Co. sold a few of their facilities not all their facilities to Wind River Gas Gathering, a subsidiary of KN Energy. Name changed to WBI Energy Transmission Inc. 6/22/2012.

W-MARKET

Western Market Center, a full-service natural gas joint venture in Wyoming, began operations in September 1994 linking five pipelines throughout the West to a common header system to offer a variety of services to gas buyers and sellers. The marketing hub is a venture between Tenneco Gas, Entech, Inc., a division of Montana Power; and Questar Corp. It is located south of Opal, WY where five major pipelines servicing the West and Midwest come together. Pipelines that are connected to the facility include Colorado Interstate Gas, Kern River Pipeline, Northwest Pipeline, Overland Trail, Overthrust and Questar. Services at the facility, called a metering station, include access to an electronic trading system, title tracking, wheeling (the capability of directing gas to any one of the five major pipelines), parking, peaking and balancing services, and a comprehensive set of information services.
