Family Activities 4-H Friday—Theme “SuperheroeS”

Free for all youth and families in Utah County (Dinner included) May 17 from 6-8:30 pm At the 4-H office, 100 E. Center St. Suite L400 in Provo The entire family is invited to join us for 4-H Friday…..a night of family fun from the 4-H! Bring your neighbors and friends who are not members of 4-H to help them learn more about 4-H. Dinner will be provided and will start right at 6 pm. You won’t want to miss out on this fun evening! Worth 1 Achievement Point. Teens and younger kids (Grades 3-12): Rotate through activities, fun crafts, and a service project planned and led by the Teen Council.

Cloverbud Youth (Grades K-2): Stay in one room to play games planned and led by the Junior Ambassadors. Nursery (Ages 18 mo. to pre-K): Nursery run by the 4-H Leader’s Council. Adults: Get to attend workshops to learn more about our 4 -H program.

SERVICE PROJECT Donations Needed: I'm Megan Mickelson, I'm on teen council and I am a county ambassador for 4 -h. I have the incredible opportunity to travel to South Africa in June to distribute feminine hygiene kits with Days for Girls. I am cur-rently collecting the following items for the kits: hotel-size bar soap, wash cloths (any color), Ziploc brand freezer bags (must be Ziploc brand), girls size 10-16 underwear (no faces or animals on the print for cultural sensitivity), and monetary do-nations. If you have any questions or need more information feel free to call or text me at 801 -822-9883. Days for Girls increases access to menstrual care and education by developing global partnerships, cultivating social en-terprises, mobilizing volunteers, and innovating sustainable solutions that shatter stigmas and imitations for women and girls. ANNUAL 4-H DAY CAMP—SPY TRAINING

Free for all 4-H youth and their families are invited June 11 from 9 am to 2 pm At Canyon Glen Park in Provo Canyon

Join us for our annual 4-H Day Camp! Attendees need to bring their own lunch, water bottle and wear sunscreen. Come dressed to get wet! We will be doing activities like crime detecting, having snow cones, an obstacle course and scavenger hunt. Come ready for a fun day of adventure with our teen council! Worth 1 4-H Achievement point.

4-H Family camp! All 4-H youth and their families are invited July 23-26- $50 per person (includes your choice of river rafting or Bar-J Wranglers) Kids 2 and under are $8 At the 4-H Camp in Alpine, Wyoming Register starting May 3 at http://ut.4honline.com.

Join your 4-H friends for 4-H Family Camp! Cost includes camp activities, crafts, games, food, t-shirt and your choice of river rafting or Bar-J Wranglers. Additional activity costs: if you choose to do a second activity, and we have one day reserved for family activities. On family day, you can travel to Yellowstone, the Tetons, or Jackson Hole. Registration is open to all. You will be sleeping in a tent or in a cabin with your family. Worth 1 4-H Achievement point.

Hidden Garden Tour – Anyone interested! Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the gardens (Kids 8 & under are free) June 14 from noon to 8 pm June 15 from 10 am to 6 pm Check out the website for tickets and information.

All youth grades 7-12 are invited to join us for our Utah County 4-H Teen Coun-cil and Junior Ambassadors! We would love every youth in Utah county to come. Bring a friend and come learn leadership skills, plan activities, build friendships, and have fun! Each meeting is worth 1 4-H Achievement Point. ***We also hold a youth club at the same time for younger siblings of those on Teen Council. This way, parents are welcome to bring all of your kids. We do things like crafts, team building activities, play games, and have lots of fun!

Livestock—Shows, Tagging Days and Camps—Grades 3-12 Livestock Tagging Days are critical for youth wishing to participate in the Junior Livestock Shows. This year if you would like to participate, you MUST attend a livestock tagging. Please, do not ask the agent to come to you. Steers must be tagged at least 100 days prior to the show you are wishing to attend. Sheep and hogs must be tagged at least 60 days prior to the show. Due to new policies, all tags must be paid for PRIOR to tagging the animal. This must be done online at: http://ut.4honline.com. Registration must be complete online prior to attending. Youth can choose to apply for any of the following Ambassador Positions opening this fall. Plan to conduct an ice breaker during the interview time, so we can see your leaderships skills in ac-tion! You will need to attend a mandatory training retreat in the fall. Utah County Ambassadors—Organize and lead two Junior Teen Retreats and two major service projects throughout the year. County Livestock Ambassadors & Horse Ambassadors—You will plan and conduct Horse and Livestock events through-out the year and assist at shows. County STEM Ambassadors—Help with STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities throughout the year. You will also help at the STEM trailer. Utah Northern Regional Ambassadors—You will be a repre-sentative from Utah County for the Utah Northern Region. These ambassadors will meet once a month and plan a spring retreat for teens across the northern region.

This is one of the easiest contests for kids to compete in. Prepare your favorite food ahead of time, give a short presentation on the dish and serve it to the judges. The Noteables is a brand new State performing arts group. Utah 4-H is looking for youth who can sing, dance, play instruments, and talented at show production (lighting, audio, etc.). The group will perform at various state venues, events, and conferences throughout the year. Bring a flash drive with your music on it, if you need it. There will be two required rehearsal weekends. The first one is July 18-20. The second one will be in August. Check out the website for more information.

Demonstrations: Demonstrate on any subject you are interested in, such as Ag, Home Economics, Food, Horse, STEM, Health Living, etc. You may work individually or as a team of two. Demonstrations should not exceed 15 minutes. Click the link for more infor-mation.

Talent Contest (fill out this form, print and bring it with you): We would love to see dance, piano, instruments, vocal and variety talents. You may compete as an individual, or a team of up to four members. You will be judged on things like showmanship, appear-ance, and your talent itself.

Cosplay: Create a costume based on any fictional character and present why you picked that character. You will be judged on things like creativity, construction of costume, and your presentation.

Prepared Video Production: Create a video for this contest! You will be judged on things like your story board, the video itself, and your presentation.

Sewing Contests: Sew any type of project-like a quilt, baby dress or handbag. Then, display the item and present about your project. You will be judged on your construction, presentation, and interview about the item.

Fashion Revue (fill out this form to bring with you and watch this video about it): Come prepared in an outfit to model for the judges. The outfit/garment can be constructed, modified or purchased. When you compete, you will need to do an oral presentation and be able to answer questions from the judges.

LEGO NXT Sumo Robotics Camp! The Utah County 4-H STEM Ambassadors will be lead-ing this camp. Youth will work in pairs to prepare sumo robots for the Utah County Robotics Competition held during the County Fair in August. Participants will learn to build and pro-gram a simple LEGO NXT bot with light, touch and ultrasonic sensors to compete within the sumo ring platform. Space is limited, so register today! are grades 3-12). Youth K-8 are encouraged to participate in order to prepare to compete in State Contests when they are in grades 9-12. Contests are worth 2
