Among the top returnees are junior F/M Whitney Berry (3G, 3A in 2010), senior F Kortney Clifton (4G, 1A in 2010) and RS-junior GK Kat Liebetrau (113 saves, 1.52 GAA, 4 ShO) Scouting Oklahoma Tennessee leads 1-0-0, having topped the Sooners, 1-0, back on Nov. 14, 2003 in NCAA First Round action in Knoxville, Tenn. Fourth-year coach Nicole Nelson boasts eight starters back from a 12-8-3 squad that finished tied for third in the Big 12 in 2010 at 5-4-1. Among the top returnees are junior F Caitlin Mooney (7G, 3A in 2010), sophomore M Dria Hampton (5G, 5A in 2010) and junior GK Kelsey Devonshire (107 saves, 1.32 GAA, 6 ShO). Tennessee Season Openers UT is 10-5 all-time in season openers, playing on the road or at a neutral site on seven occasions (2-5). The Big Orange has won six of its last eight lidlifters. Big Orange Slices... A “Senior CLASS” Act! Tennessee Lady Vol midfielder/forward Chelsea Hatcher has been chosen as one of 30 national nomi- nees for the 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Women’s Soccer Award®. The accolade is given each season to a player who excels both on and off the pitch and best exemplifies the true definition of a “student-athlete.” At the end of last season, Hatcher was honored with a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Region Second Team and a place on the All-Southeastern Conference First Team after leading the Big Orange in goals (eight), points (20) and shots (105). The 5-7 midfielder/forward will begin the 2011 campaign with 11 career goals, six assists and 28 total points over 58 matches played during her three-year stint at Rocky Top. She has also moved into fifth all-time in UT history by launching 224 total shots (64 on frame). The Opening Prelude... The Big Orange already have an exhibition match under their belts during the month of August having traveled to Birmingham, Ala., on Fri., Aug. 12, for a 0-0 deadlock at Samford. In all, 20 different Lady Vol play- ers saw action in the contest, including eight freshmen who drew their first playing time while clad in the Orange & White. Tennessee rookie goalkeeper Julie Eckel managed five saves while combining with redshirt sophomore net minder Jessica Rolfs on the shutout. 6 CHELSEA HATCHERM/F, 5-7, Senior, Cincinnati, Ohio A returning first team 2010 All-Southeastern Conference and second team National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) All-South Region selection, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native led the Lady Vols last season with eight goals, 20 points and 105 shots to go along with four assists and a pair of match-winning goals. Hatcher now has 11 career scores and six career helpers.

20 EMILY DOWDF, 5-6, Senior, Gainesville, Fla. In 20 matches played during the 2010 campaign, Dowd rated second on the Lady Vol squad in goals scored with a career-high seven. Included were two-score efforts at #25 Arizona State and vs. Chattanooga. The Gainesville, Fla., native now owns 10 goals, five helpers and 25 total points in 60 career matches.

25 CAROLINE BROWNM/F, 5-9, Sophomore, Hershey, Pa. Brown announced herself with authority during her rookie campaign clad in the Orange & White, totaling three goals and two assists for eight total points. Two of her three tallies were of the match-winning variety as the Hershey, Pa., product recorded the decisive scores in defeating Mississippi State (1-0, 2 OT) and Ole Miss (3-1).

8 KYLIE BONOM, 5-8, Junior, Yorba Linda, Calif. In starting all 20 matches for the Lady Vols during 2010, Bono finished third on the squad in goals (five), assists (three - tied with Sanna Saarinen) and points (13) while posting a trio of match-winning scores in topping Chattanooga, Vanderbilt and Georgia. With two goals and a helper versus UTC, she also joined Saarinen in registering the first five-point matches for a Lady Vol since Emily Redberg turned the feat back on Oct. 21, 2007.
