Using WePresent Wireless Video in the Classroom Sometimes it is useful to be able to quickly share what you have on your laptop screen with everyone in your classroom. Jamrich Hall, our newest building on campus, has wireless projection capabilities in every classroom. This allows you to send what is on your laptop screen directly to the large projection screen for everyone in the room to see, all without connecting any cables. Select rooms in other buildings will have this capability as well. The device which allows this wireless presentation is called the “WePresent.” Some initial setup is required to utilize this device. 1. Begin by downloading and installing the WePresent software. If you have already downloaded the software to your laptop, proceed to step 5. If you have already installed the software on your laptop, proceed to step 6. 2. Open a web browser on your laptop. In the address bar of the browser type: http://it.nmu.edu/downloads . 3. Scroll down and find the “WePresent” software for either Windows or Mac. 4. Click the “Download Now” link for the appropriate version. Depending on what web browser you are using, the file will either automatically download to your “Downloads” folder, or you will have to click the “Save” button and choose a location to save file. 5. Once the software has been downloaded, doubleclick on the downloaded file, and follow the installation instructions for your device.

Using WePresent Wireless Video in the Classroom  Sometimes it is useful to be able to quickly share what you have on your laptop screen 

with everyone in your classroom. Jamrich Hall, our newest building on campus, has wireless projection capabilities in every classroom. This allows you to send what is on your laptop screen directly to the large projection screen for everyone in the room to see, all without connecting any cables. Select rooms in other buildings will have this capability as well. 

 The device which allows this wireless presentation is called the “WePresent.” Some 

initial setup is required to utilize this device.   

1. Begin by downloading and installing the WePresent software. If you have already downloaded the software to your laptop, proceed to step 5. If you have already installed the software on your laptop, proceed to step 6. 2. Open a web browser on your laptop.  In the address bar of the browser type: http://it.nmu.edu/downloads .  

 3. Scroll down and find the “WePresent” software for either Windows or Mac.

6. With the software installed, you are now ready to connect your laptop to the large projection screen in the classroom. Run the WePresent application on your laptop. On a windows laptop, you may need to click the “Yes” button to allow the software to run. 

 7. The first time you run the WePresent software, a “Connect to WiFi Network” window will open. Click the “Skip” button. 

 8. A “Quick Connect” window will open up. Type in the required Receiver IP address, your name, and the four­digit code to connect. Then click the “Connect” button.

9. Both the IP address and the four­digit code will be displayed on the large projection screen in the classroom as soon as it is ready to accept wireless connections. The receiver IP address is a series of four numbers separated by periods. 

 10. After entering the required information, click the “Connect” button.

11. Wait a few seconds, while your laptop is connecting, and you will see your laptop screen duplicated on the large screen in the room for everyone to see.  

 12. You are now ready to present, share ideas, and collaborate with others in the room.

Up to four people may connect to the large screen at the same time using the WePresent. To do so: 

 1. Select the number of the corresponding screen quadrant around the play button in the WePresent software window.

2. To fill the whole screen, press the play button in the middle of the numbers. 

   If more than one person presses the play button, the screen of the person who pressed play most recently will be displayed.   ***Note, you must have a WiFi connection for the WePresent to work properly.  A WiMAX connection will not be fast enough to work.
