Using Social Media for Children/Teens Outreaches/Discipleship
Let’s assume the following:
A. You’re busy
B. You don’t have the resources
(financial, volunteer, time) to do a really
broad scope
of many social networks.
C. It’s better to focus small and do a few things
well
instead of doing a million things
Those media, which are the most commonly
consumed by the average person you want to
reach, in my opinion are the best choices to
start with.
1. Facebook Person/ProfileYou should be a Facebook Person. Chances are, you
already joined Facebook and started sharing pictures of
your kids with family members across the country, if not,
you need to start one.
If you weren’t already aware, be warned that as a
church leader your Facebook profile will be scrutinized
by others. For better or for worse, social media means
complete transparency about a lot of things. We advise
not hiding or privatizing your Facebook page. Your
personal profile can be a useful way to interact with
your church’s Facebook page and lets people know you
are approachable in this medium.
We focus on FACEBOOKThere are three approaches you can take
to create a presence for your ministry on
Facebook.
2. Facebook Groups
Facebook Groups make it easy to
connect with specific sets of people, like
family, disciples, students, members,
teammates or coworkers. Groups are
dedicated spaces where you can share
updates, photos or documents. You can
also select one of three privacy
options (closed, open, secret) for each
group you create.
3. Facebook Page
Pages are for businesses, brands and
organizations to share their stories and
connect with people. Like profiles, you can
customize Pages by posting stories,
hosting events, adding apps and more.
People who like your Page and their
friends can get updates in News Feed.

Ministry starts from the day you start prayers – but it’s not time yet to share
the gospel or the bible if you are targeting non-believing children/teens.
