Self-Ligating BracketsThe following slide sequence is intended to show how Cfast self ligating brackets operate and also some of the changes you will need to adopt when compared to o-ring ligation. For further information and clarification, please log onto the Cfast forum or contact one of the clinical mentors.

Bracket Debonds

Rather than using a new bracket each time, you should be able to rebond the existing bracket

You first need to roughen the fitting surface, ideally with a sand blaster or polishing diamond bur.

Use the indirect tray to reseat the bracket in the correct position.

Trim soft inner tray to isolate tooth to be rebonded

Use the indirect tray to reseat the bracket in the correct position.

Best choose new bracket and place in slot firmly

Use the indirect tray to reseat the bracket in the correct position.

The bracket is placed in the tray so the door always opens towards the incisal edge

Remove composite from enamel surface and get back down to enamel. Then etch and bond.

Use a resin cement such as 3M ESPE RelyX Unicem

Broken Brackets

A broken door usually means it was not closed fully. However no need to replace bracket use a quick tie to ligate archwire

Rotational Composite Bump

You can still use the composite bump technique for rotational corrections.

HOWEVER you need to leave the door open and ligate with a quick-tie

Make sure there is a bend in the wire or the tooth will not rotate.
