Once you’ve found Buy or Sell Signals for stocks or ETF’s, it’s time to build your portfolio - and The Wizard helps you do this with our My Portfolio tool.

With My Portfolio, you don’t have to invest actual money until you’re ready. Instead, this feature allows you to “paper trade” - to track our investment signals without actually placing buy and sell orders with your broker. instead, you’ll get to see how The Wizard’s investment process works, so that you are completely comfortable before investing any money.

You can add either Stocks or ETF’s to a Portfolio, but they must be Buy or Sell Signals. Open Positions cannot be added to a Portfolio. As we show you how a Portfolio works, we’ll explain why this is.

This guide is broken into 4 parts:

Part 1: Creating a new PortfolioHow to create a new Portfolio

Part 2: Adding Stocks or ETF’s to a PortfolioThe 3-step process for adding stocks or ETF’s to a Portfolio

Part 3: Managing your PortfoliosRenaming and deleting a Portfolio; Viewing Cancelled Signals.

Part 4: Viewing a PortfolioUsing your Portfolios to track Buy and Sell Signals

Creating a New PortfolioBefore you can add Stocks or ETF’s to a Portfolio, you must have a Portfolio to add them to. The Wizard allows you to create as many Portfolios as you’d like, so that you can track different groups of investments. For example, you may have a Portfolio for tracking your IRA investments, another for tracking ETF’s and another for tracking stocks to sell short. It’s all up to you.

Cancelled SignalsNot every Buy or Sell Signal The Wizard issues is triggered. There are times when a Stock or ETF simply never reaches The Wizard’s Buy or Sell Price. When this happens, The Wizard will tell you that this Signal has been cancelled.

When you click to view the list of your Portfolios, a box will pop up telling you that some of your Portfolios have cancelled Signals. The Wizard also directs you to cancel all orders for these Stocks or ETF’s. This includes entry orders, Stop orders and profit-taking orders. This is critical, because The Wizard has determined that these Stocks or ETF’s are no longer good investment candidates.

This alert will appear anytime you have Cancelled Signals in any of your Portfolios. If you don’t want to see this box again, simply check the option to not show it again.

Viewing a PortfolioYour Portfolio screen is very similar the Open Positions list you see when you run any of our Stocks or ETF’s scans. If you’re unfamiliar with this screen, please see one of the following tutorials: Simple Scan for Stocks: Viewing Open Positions or Simple Scan for ETF’s: Viewing Open Positions.

Viewing a PortfolioHowever, a Portfolio is a little different from a simple list of Open Positions, because it tracks each Stock or ETF all the way through the investment process. The reason is simple: A Portfolio is designed to mimic an actual investment portfolio. In an actual investment portfolio, you will exit each position at some point, while some Signals will never be triggered and will be cancelled.

There are 3 key differences between a Portfolio and an Open Positions list:

USING MY PORTFOLIOUniversityWizardThe

Closed Positions:

Not Filled

Cancelled Signal

Closed PositionsWhenever the Stop Price for any stock or ETF is reached, this position is displayed as Closed in your Portfolio. This investment is now complete. The final profit or loss is shown for this investment.

Closed Positions are only shown in a Portfolio.

Closed Positions show:

Days the investment lasted.

Profit targets that have been reached.

Cancelled SignalsIn some instances, The Wizard’s Buy or Sell Price is not reached and The Wizard determines that this Stock or ETF is no longer a good investment candidate. When this occurs, the entire row for that Stock or ETF will be colored orange with a message that the Signal has been cancelled and you should immediately cancel all orders with your broker.

This means that you should cancel all entry, Stop and profit target orders for that Stock or ETF immediately. The Portfolio is the only section of The Wizard’s site that displays cancelled Signals. For this reason, we recommend the following:

Whenever you buy or sell short a Stock or ETF based on The Wizard’s signals, you add that Stock or ETF to a Portfolio. This will allow you to monitor all of its Signals, its updated Stop Price and any potential cancelled Signals as they occur. Using a Portfolio is the best way to keep on top of your live investments and to make sure that you’re always following The Wizard’s Signals.

USING MY PORTFOLIOUniversityWizardThe

Page 23: Using My Portfolio - thewizard.com My Portfolio.pdf · With My Portfolio, you don’t have to invest actual money until you’re ready. Instead, this feature allows you to “paper

Not FilledEach Buy and Sell Signal is reached at a different time, so there will be Stocks or ETF’s in your Portfolio whose Buy or Sell Signals have not yet been triggered. When this happens, The Wizard will simply display this position as Not Filled.

This Signal is still active. It has not been cancelled.

This message is just to let you know that The Wizard’s Buy or Sell Price hasn’t been reached but that you should still maintain any orders you’ve placed with your broker.
