Interesting, but what is user experience design about?

A great explanation on (user) experience design from Jesse James Garrett on the conference ‘The Mix 2007’ in Las Vegas, March 2007.

Assignment 1

Take three different user experiences you think are interesting. Choose three that are distinct from one another (e.g., social network, ecommerce, intranet).

On each of the seven facets, analyze all three experiences. Use the material from the reader or any other relevant material. Discuss this in a piece of text for each facet and make sure you refer to the sources you used.

Create a score matrix, where you score all three experiences on all seven uxd facets. Visualize these scores.

Document your findings and conclusions on your minor blog.

Prepare a (5 minutes) presentation for the meeting next week.

Assignment 2

Reflect on the uxd level of your internship: How was the company involved in the uxd process? What activities and deliverables did you do/create? What was

your role? What did you learn during your internship? What competencies

did you develop? What was lacking from your internship? Reflect on your goals for this minor:

What type of designer do you want to become, after graduating? How do you think you can get there?

What portfolio pieces do you want to be working on during this minor?

What specific competencies from this minor do you think are most relevant to you?

Post your findings on your blog
