01 Introduction for Korean police 'PODORI'B : What does this 'PODORI' mean? A : 'PO' in 'PODORI' comes from the first syllable of

'Police' and this means 'Podocheong' (Police station in Choseon Dynasty).

B : So does 'Po' means something?A : Yes it does. It is a Chinese word that means

“arrest”.B : I see. What about 'DORI' and 'SUNI'? what do they

mean?A : 'DORI' means wise, steady, and brave man and

'SUNI' is used to address the ladies in the ancient times.

B : Can you describe the symbol of 'PODORI'?A: Sure. Our bright smile means we are happy to

serve. It means that the police always have a bright smile to offer to everybody. The two big eyes search all the parts of the nation to prevent crimes. The two big ears hear the voices of the people, and they get the information to enable the protection of the people against all criminals. The big head means 'Singisikin (new intelligent people)', with the slogan "open mind can see the future". The big nose smells evidence of crimes and the big feet means they can run quickly towards the people who are in trouble.
