The blackboard/whiteboard is usually the main piece of equipment at the TEFL teacher’s disposal and it is therefore

important that the teacher uses it well.

The board is a means of presenting new language, checking understanding and

summarizing the important points of the TEFL lesson.

Whatever the teacher writes on the board and how it is copied down by the students will ultimately influence how it is imprinted in

their minds. A board should therefore be well organised, uncluttered and easy to read.

Notes and ideas which are simply written at random and which cover the whole board are

not effective.
