What is PenTack, and what does it contain
Description Function
Bitumen emulsion • Binder from bitumen emulsion is added
• Holes between the stones are filled up
• Amount of water getting down into the pavement is reduced
• The dosage is adjusted depending on each Pavements
Rejuvenator emulsion • The existing asphalt bitumen is added new and easier carbon
compounds
• Adhesion between stone materials and binder are re-established
• Approved flexibility in as well the surface as in the depth of the
asphalt pavement
Water • Added to achieve the optimum viscosity of PenTack®
Crushed granite • 0 – 2 mm
• 0,4 – 1,2 kg. per m2

Preservation of Asphalt Pavements
Unique preservation process
• Cold applied bitumen emulsion based system.
• The 3 components spray-material is adjustable during application.
• The viscosity is adjusted to the pavement it is sprayed on.
• The spray rate is continuously optimized to the type and degradation status of the asphalt.
• Significant ability to penetrate into the asphalt.
• Sanded with different types and sizes of aggregate depending on
type of working area.

Right time for Sealing is…
Colas Active Sealing – with PenTack®
• When you see the stone lost from the pavement.
• When you see approx. 30% of the top of the stone in your pavement.
• When the mortar is gone.
• When the pavement still is without potholes etc.

Test site facts:
Where: Motorvway M64 - Km 55,9 -61,2 - Slow lane
Asphalt type: Noise reducing asphalt from 2006
Goal: To prolong the expected lifetime of the wearing course by sealing with PenTack while keeping the skid resistance above the limits given in the Danish regulations.
