African-American/ Black History Month “Civil Rights in America” ecruiter Journal R Recruiting the Army of 2020 As we look toward our role in recruiting the Army of 2020, we must consider that prospects for Army 2020 are just now turning 12 years old - all they have known of the military so far is about conflict in the Middle East. How will that shape their propensity to serve? How will we communicate with them? How will we garner their interest? Planning Recruiting Success Recruiting operations are no different than any other operation in the Army. e foundation of any good plan is proper planning through intelligence and lessons learned. In order for a center to be successful in the day to day fight, the center must employ its limited and valuable assets optimally. Utilizing Simultaneous Mentorship Program e Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) allows a student to attend Army ROTC and serve in the U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard at the same time. It gives a student an opportunity for additional training and experience. College Career Centers; High Value Assets College career centers can be high-value assets for recruiters. Successful recruiting centers gauge opportunities in postsecondary schools to include career centers. Engagement and shaping operations that include career centers greatly expand and inform the student market. Investigations Uncover Truth; Good and Bad “OMG, I’m under investigation...now what?” is probably among the first reactions you might have if notified you’ve had an allegation of recruiting impropriety made against you. But should you be worried? I want to welcome everyone in our USAREC family to the “Family Corner,” which will be a recurring section in the Recruiter Journal that will give me the opportunity to make sure our families are aware of all the services available to them. is issue’s column is about the Ex- ceptional Family Members Program.
