It is found out that the first settlement in the region had begun after 4000

B.C, whereas the continuous settlements had begun in the early bronze age.

During the course of history, the city of Uşak first went under the

sovereignty of Phrigians and Lydians

CILANDIRAS BRIDGE:

Uşak’s Banaz River has been running under the Clandras Bridge for the past

2500 years. Built by the Phrygians, the bridge is 24 meters long, 17 meters high

and 1.75 meters wide and stands on two abutments secured on rocks. It is

made of stone blocks with hand carved decorations on their facades.

B.C., Uşak took its place in the new era.

This city Blaundus, is founded by the residents of Macedonia after Anatolia expedition of Alexander the Great, near Sülümenli village of Ulubey province. Most important

structures are castle, temples, theater, stadium and rock tombs.

It went under Roman sovereignity in 189 B.C. after Roman

consul Manlius’ expedition to Anatolia.

Sebaste (Selcikler): Sebaste city, is founded by Roman Emperor, Augustus in

20 B. C. with Sebaste name. It is one of the most important 12 cities

during Roman period. It become bishop center of surrounding cities

during 9th century A. D.

The city had lived its marvelous times during Byzantium period.

* After 11 th century the city had been exchanged frequendly

between Seljukians and Byzantines.

* In 1117 with the Miryakefelon War, Uşak permanently joined

Seljukians. Then it joined the Germiyan Principality

Gra d Mosque was most probably built in the year 1419.It has lights from times of Germiyans.

In the Turkish Republican period, Uşak became

a province in 1953.
