-William Bradford’s Journal, “Of Plymouth Plantation

-Born in Austerfield, England in 1590; became governor of Plymouth Colony in 1621.

- Journal contains an account of the Pilgrims from when they settled in Holland in 1609, boarded the mayflower in 1620 and throughout their life at Plymouth until 1647.

- Written between 1630-1647

-The single most important source for information about the Pilgrims and colonial New England

The Pilgrims decide to emigrate to America despite the perils and dangers : "all great & honourable actions are accompanied with great difficulties, and must be both enterprised and overcome with answerable courages. It was granted ye dangers were great, but not desperate; the difficulties were many, but not invincible. For though their were many of them likely, yet they were not cartaine;-- William Bradford
