Non-linear IETP Sub-Project• Analyze and provide recommendation on interactive

capabilities of S1000D Process Data Module (PDM) relative to MIL-PRF-87269

• Tasks:– Proof of concept for Issue 2 Process DM constructs

• Develop simple prototype logic engine• Develop sample data• Identify implementing vendors for coordination

– Identify the remaining requirements for fully interactive capabilities (particularly anything currently provided by 87269)

• Task: Identify use cases

– Recommend specification changes to support the added capabilities

– Recommend a migration strategy from 87269 to S1000D

Page 7: US EPWG Ryan Augsburger Kathy Rainbolt AIA Tri-Service Technical Publications Workshop San Antonio, TX February 2004 US EPWG for S1000D.

US EPWGUS EPWG

Non-linear IETP Sub-Project• Progress:

– Prototype Logic Engine is in development– Several meetings held, approximately monthly– Last meeting was yesterday (2/10/04)– Way forward for expanding interactive capabilities

has been identified• Includes major interactive constructs (ala 87269)• Targeted for S1000D release 2.2 – November 2004

Graphics Sub-Project• Analyze the graphics capabilities of S1000D (in

particular, support for reusability of graphic objects)• Tasks:

– Identify graphics capabilities to add to S1000D and write the associated CPFs.

• Consider standard definition for companion files

– Coordinate activities with the ATA Graphics Working Group– Examine Wiring Diagram issues.– Examine ICN Numbering system.

Page 10: US EPWG Ryan Augsburger Kathy Rainbolt AIA Tri-Service Technical Publications Workshop San Antonio, TX February 2004 US EPWG for S1000D.

US EPWGUS EPWG

Graphics Sub-Project

• Progress:– Several meetings held – approximately monthly

• Last meeting held Monday (2/9/04)• Meetings attended by an ATA Graphics representative

– Examining Wiring Diagram DM structure for possible enhancement

US EPWGUS EPWG

• Charter: Investigate and recommend specification changes relating to training.

• Tasks:– Identify requirements for a training DM within S1000D– Identify requirements for delivery of training modules– Analyze granularity of objects to facilitate reuse– Examine requirements for collection and reporting of training

metrics– Integrate training data within the S1000D CSDB– Examine Multimedia requirements and issues

S1000D Training Subproject

US EPWGUS EPWG

• Membership: Includes representation across US DoD services,

ADL & Training Transformation community, Industry • Status:

– Very much in a Requirements Discovery Phase

• Plan:– Develop common understanding of training & tech data

development and delivery domain across U.S DoD – Product should be white paper

– Analyze what requirements could/should be allocated to tech data standards like S1000D

– After requirements analysis, truly design and recommend solutions to S1000D.

US EPWGUS EPWG

URI/URN Resolver Sub-Project

• Validate the technical accuracy and feasibility of the URI/URN resolver and its application within S1000D

• Tasks:– Identify opportunities for application to S1000D– Develop a prototype URI/URN resolver– Register S1000D URN namespace ID with

Internet Engineering Task Force

Page 14: US EPWG Ryan Augsburger Kathy Rainbolt AIA Tri-Service Technical Publications Workshop San Antonio, TX February 2004 US EPWG for S1000D.

US EPWGUS EPWG

URI/URN Resolver Sub-Project

• Progress:– Prototype URI/URN resolver in work– Application for S1000D URN namespace ID with

Internet Engineering Task Force almost ready to submit

US EPWGUS EPWG

Applicability-Effectivity Sub-Project

• Define the US position for Applicability-Effectivity issues and coordinate with the international EPWG.

• Tasks:– Define how applicability and effectivity work with

preconditions.– Analyze & define whether current S1000D Effectivity-

Applicability constructs meet the US requirements.– Coordinate with the international EPWG working group and

recommend S1000D changes as necessary.

Diagnostics Sub-Project

• Handle all things concerning diagnostics.• Tasks

– Determine the requirements, scope and priority for a diagnostics interface CPF. Requirements include:

o The ability to receive data from and send data to the diagnostics system (which is external to the technical data).

o A standard scheme for sending and receiving data (interacting) with external systems.

– Write and submit CPFs– Submit change chapters/DTDs/Schemas– Continue monitoring and refining the spec concerning all

things diagnostic
