How To Know When .

aitlyn K, a 15 year old

singer/songwriter and entertainerfrom the suburbs of Houston, Texas.Kaitlyn’s vocal talent was first noticedby her grandmother who took her toher first singing lesson for her 7th

birthday, it wasn’t long before Kaitlynwas winning local and national 28

competitions including, Best Singerin Texas, Colgate County Showdownand Houston’s Best Country Singeras well as being a featured singer onMaury’s “Most Talented Kids inAmerica”, resulting in her beingpenned as the next Carrie Under-wood.Kaitlyn’s most memorable competi-tion was when she won a chance togo to Nashville to record a demo, that experience, she says was whatgot her started on her songwriting, recording and getting her own musicout there.Kaitlyn’s family keeps her groundedand focused on music. According toher , they have always been verysupportive of her goals and encour-aged her.Besides performing mostly for mid-dle school and high school age stu-dents, Kaitlyn says that because thestudents bring their parents to herperformances, they seem to like hermusic too.Kaitlyn’s goal for her music is tosend a message that anyone can re-late to and she chose bullying, it af-fected her and she knew it affectedother teens as well. Really feelingthat it was a subject that needed tobe addressed because she had alsoexperienced bullying and writesabout things that are going on in herown life Kaitlyn teamed up with herproducer TySongs to take a Stand

Against Bullying, coming up with theoriginal song and hit titled “Who Do UThink U R.Receiving such a tremendous re-sponse from the song, Kaitlyn’sschool decided to make a lip dub to itand as a result they’ve been contactedfrom all across the world from stu-dents , teachers and fans wanting touse her song and their video as part oftheir lesson plans. As well as beingparodied on the show SouthPark. The video won the No Bull Teen VideoAwards, 1st place for Community In-volvement video and 1st runner up forall around video, in which they got thego to San Francisco for the award cer-

emony. Since then Kaitlyn was askedby her school district to write thisyears theme song about the “Powerof One”. She has released her newsingle “I’ll Be the One”, to show howone person can make an impact onsomeone else’s life. But Kaitlyn isaware of her role as a role model andbeing looked up to, she falls back ona quote she heard from the movieSpiderman, “With great powercomes great responsibility”. Becauseof the “Who Do U Think U R” songabout bullying Kaitlyn has peoplecome to her for advice all the timeand although she loves talking to herfans, she’s still a teen and knows shehas to be responsible with the sub-ject matter , which is why often shehas had to refer them to a counseloror an adult to make sure they’re get-ting the correct advice.Kaitlyn wants her fans to know she isa normal teen that does the samethings other teens like to do, likehanging out with her friends, goingto homecoming, studying, doinghomework and rehearsing for musi-cal theater. But in her spare time sheloves driving, surfing, watching mov-ies and listening to music. Kaitlynsays there is one thing for sure, sheis always busy. Her advice to teens for whatever ca-reer they are pursuing is to stay ded-icated and passionate abouteverything in life.
