FRANK VAUGHT, JOE FRYE, JUSTIN LARSONThe three founding partners of VFLA Architecture + Interiors
Frank Vaught
Frank and Joe launched their first practice in 1973. Their body of work since then is countless.
Frank’s leadership and integrity are second to none; he is a pillar in our community with immeasurable talent. He has always had an uncanny ability to draw and design to scale in front of clients. It takes them by surprise.
He inspires awe with his creative and innovative approaches to design. Clients are proud of their history and portfolio from working with Frank, but most of all, they are honored to call him a friend.
Joe Frye
Since launching their first practice in 1973 with Frank, Joe committed his career to project excellence and was a phenomenal counterpart to Frank’s creative side. He could execute and plan the most complex project with ease. At its peak, Vaught Frye Architects employed 35 people and Joe led the operations of staffing and scheduling. The majority of Vaught Frye projects came from repeat clients and personal referrals. Joe was always looking for the best possible outcome that included creative design for buildings that worked for both the short and long term.
He truly made the whole process fun!
Justin Larson
By linking to our past in a way that few of us had ever contemplated, Justin Larson helped to awaken our community and carve a path toward a brighter future of urban design and architecture.
Justin reconnected us with the importance of designing buildings to reflect the era in which they are built. In Fort Collins, we love our old buildings from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s so much that we believed the highest form of flattery when constructing new buildings was to replicatethe old. Yet in reality, this approach was diminishing the authenticity of our historic architecture. Justin taught us that the landmarks of the future are created by architects of today who design with materials and technologies of their era, just as the architects of the 1880s, 1900s, and 1920s did to create our most beloved historic buildings.
The City of Fort Collins celebrates great places and people who create them. Join us in promoting awareness of the importance of urban design, and its role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of life in our community.
