Main transport problems are due to predominance of low capacity vehicles
•50 thousand combies and minibuses carry out the highest proportion of journeys in the metropolitan area•103 thousand taxis in the Federal District•160 thousand in all the metropolitan area

Desplazamientos en el AMCM
Travel routes in the metropolitan area
• Complex journeystructures
• Growth andincreasing diversityof travel demand
• Concentration of trips in time andspace
• Concentration in routes of controlledaccess andin primary routes, 1% of thetotal network.

Expansión Urbana y TransporteUrban expansion and Transport
This urbanizationpattern resulted in longer, more time consuming and
expensive journeysto work, school,

¿Y la Movilidad?and mobility?
• Metrobus and cycle paths: emerginginitiatives laking necessary funding toenable their efficient and optimal use
•No cultivation of a culture of the added value of collective transport, even less of alternative transport
•Inertia of individual private transportfostered by economic trends, ideas of car status and urban culture
SE REQUIERE URGENTEMENTEPriority Metropolitan Actions
• FOMENTAR EL TRANSPORTE COLECTIVO DE ELEVADA CAPACIDAD CON RECURSOS DE LOS 3 NIVELES DE GOBIERNO.
• PARTICULARMENTE IMPLANTAR RUTAS DE METROBUS METROPOLITANAS.
• TRANSPORTE ELÉCTRICO EN ALGUNOS CORREDORES CLAVE.
• PROMOVER LA “GESTIÓN DEL ESPACIO PÚBLICO DE CIRCULACIÓN”, CON CORESPONSABILIDAD DE LOS GOBIERNOS CENTRALES Y LOCALES.
• ESTABLECER ESTRATEGIA INTEGRAL METROPOLITANA. AMPLIANDO FONDO METROPOLITANO Y ESTABLECIENDO CORPORACIÓN DE TRANSPORTE
• Increase collective transport, with resources of the three government levels• In particular, Focus on Implantation of bus rapid (metrobus) routes• Implement electric public transport in main key corridors• Promote the public space managment supported by local and central governments.• Establish a integral metropolitan-wide transport strategy. Increase metropolitan
funds and create Transport Authority.
