Helpline Patna received eleven calls (11 calls) in the month of March. Calls for information/Data / Query related were 7. 3 calls wherein counseling was re-quired were received, as well 1 call on medical assistance in the month of March. On 29th March group counseling was done at Digha Malitola along with Health camp organized by the Patna MMU team. Around 54 eld-erly were apprised through informa-tion dissemnitaion on various issues like BPL card, old age pension, Indira Awas yojna and also about the free physiotherapy services at the PTC

CASE STUDY- Mr. Dharmendra Kr. Singh HL counselor visited Mr. M.P.Dwivedi , retired naval officer, Age 64 have been suffering from severe de-pression, and Cerebro Vascular Accident, even had a surgery for brain

tumor. The source was Mr. Sriram Rai , treasurer of one of the SCA at Patna. Mr. Rai was in touch with the HL counselor through helpline number. HL counselor found Mr. Dwivedi in severe depression. He resides at Rajeev Nagar, Patna along with his wife. His only son is not residing presently with him. After thorough interaction the reason for depres-sion came out. He was suffering from isolation, living alone with his wife for a very long period; added with some financial crisis, compounded with health problems. HL counselor managed to have a supportive talk with him which made him comfort-able and relaxed to some extent. After two more

home visits Mr. Dwivedi agreed to come to our office and showed interest for having some physiotherapy exercises at the PTC. He came to our office and spent a long time with all of us including Sr. Manager. By seeing all of us he said that “ Mujhe lag rha hai ki mera ek nahi kai ladke hain , jo aaj bhi mere paas hai”( I feel that I have so many son who all are with me). As of today HL counselor visits his house once or twice a week for regular support & counseling.

Mr. Mahendra Pd. Shah, Age 56 have been suffering from Hemiplegia (right side) for last couple of years. He was com-pletely bed ridden, received physiotherapy & medicine else-where. He is visiting the PTC from 10th Feb 10. Coming from a very weaker section of the society Mr. Mahendra with no financial assistance nor any

helping hand came to our centre through support of the DDCC sup-port staff.

Number of enrolled patients in the Physiotherapy cen-tre has increased . Representatives of SCAs and other senior citizens have been touched for the physio treat-ment at PTC Patna.

On 29th march MMU team held a mega health camp at Digha Mali Tola, other than the routine work.

Around 178 patient were treated during the camp. Patients were from weaker sections of the society.

Awareness on various issues & rights of senior citizens were given to the beneficiaries by the HL counselor. Apart from free dispensing of medicines by the doc-tor, physiotherapy treatment were given to the needful patients with the physio combo mode.

Day Care Centre for Dementia

DDCC is all set to start with a new mode as the grant from MSJE has been approved and recommendation sent to central ministry from the state ministry. Many neuro-physicians have been contacted for the referring of such patients to the centre.
