Thursday, 3 November 2016 The second Crookwell Garden Festival will be held over the weekend of Saturday, 5 and Sunday, 6 November 2016. This year’s Festival will showcase beautiful gardens in Crookwell, Laggan, Roslyn and Binda. The Garden Lovers’ Market will also be held at St Bartholomew’s Anglican Church hall, Denison St, Crookwell on Saturday, 5 November from 8.30am to 2pm. The Market will feature an array of garden-related products, including plants, garden art and much more. For more information, please visit: www.crookwellgardenfestival.com. 2016 Crookwell Garden Festival Have your say: Combined Regional Community Strategic Plan Upper Lachlan, Goulburn Mulwaree and Yass Valley Councils are working together to prepare a combined Regional Community Strategic Plan (CSP) under the Local Government Act. The Councils are doing this to ensure the Region has a stronger voice in State Government decisions on regional planning and funding to ensure the needs and aspirations of these communities are recognised and fulfilled. The aim of the draft Regional CSP is to provide a shared vision and objectives to provide clear strategic directions for the long term, and identify the main priorities and aspirations of the communities of the Region. It is envisaged that the draft Regional CSP will be based on the following five pillars: A. Community B. Environment C. Economy D. Infrastructure E. Civic Leadership The community are invited to attend workshops held across the Region. These workshops will provide an opportunity for everyone to review and provide input into the draft Regional CSP. Workshops within the Upper Lachlan local government area will be held at the following locations: Gunning: Council Chambers, 123 Yass Street, Gunning - Monday, 21 November 2016 from 5.30pm to 7.00pm Taralga: Masonic Hall, Orchard Street, Taralga - Tuesday, 22 November 2016 from 5.30pm to 7.00pm Crookwell: Council Chambers, 44 Spring Street, Crookwell - Tuesday, 22 November 2016 from 7.30pm to 9.00pm A community survey will also be distributed and made available via Council’s website so those unable to attend scheduled workshops can provide input into the draft Regional CSP. Draft 2017/2018 Operational Plan and Delivery Program Council is calling on community groups and individuals to lodge written submissions for the Draft 2017/2018 Operational Plan and Delivery Program. Council is seeking input from the community to help determine project and spending priorities for the 2017/2018 budget financial year. Submissions must be made on the Draft Operational Plan Submission Form and outline items that should be considered in 2017/2018 and future years budget.This includes requests for financial assistance for community or charity groups. To allow Council to fully understand your submission and give it suitable consideration, you are asked to supply sufficient detail that will fully describe the requested project/service and include any cost estimates if they are available. Please note submissions must include a maximum of three items in the order of their priority. Copies of the Submission Form are available from the three Council Administration Offices, on Council’s website: www.upperlachlan.nsw.gov.au or by contacting Council’s Management Accountant Trudi Klem on 4830 1061. All submissions should be forwarded to PO Box 42, Gunning NSW 2581, or emailed to [email protected] by 4.30pm on Friday, 2 December 2016. In conjunction with the NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), Council wishes to advise business operators, residents and motorists essential maintenance work on Goulburn Street, Crookwell (Main Road 54) between the Spring Street Roundabout and Laggan Road, will take place from Sunday, 6 November 2016 until Saturday, 12 November 2016, between the hours of 7.00pm and 6.00am. Local traffic diversions will be in place for the duration of this project. Motorists are encouraged to observe all safety signage and allow additional time for their journey. In the event of wet weather, the project will be rescheduled to the next available fine day. Vehicle access to Main Street business premises will be unavailable while works are in progress, however pedestrian access will be maintained for the duration and the road will be re-opened to normal business traffic and parking from 6.00am. Care will also need to be taken to avoid accidental bitumen damage to floors and carpets. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during this project construction. Goulburn Street (Main Street), Crookwell Notification of Roadworks Council Picnic Day Upper Lachlan Shire Council wishes to advise the community that Council’s Administration Offices in Crookwell and Gunning will be closed on Thursday, 3 November 2016 due to a Council Picnic Day. All other Council facilities and services will operate as normal. Council’s Administration Offices in Crookwell and Gunning will reopen on Friday, 4 November 2016. Council Committee vacancies Council is seeking independent community members to join the Australia Day and Audit and Risk and Committees. The Australia Day Committee is responsible for the coordination of the official Australia Day celebrations across the Upper Lachlan Shire. The Audit and Risk Committee assists Council to fulfil its financial reporting, risk management, investment portfolio, governance and internal control requirements under the Local Government Act. It is desirable that applicants have a background in accounting risk management and/or business management.
