"The Wanaka Basketball club is turning a new leaf with fresh faces at the helm, with the goal of developing the sport throughout all age groups in the Upper Clutha area. Currently in Wanaka there are 3 levels of basketball. Adults, Secondary school basketball and Mini-ball.

Over the years the club has managed to operate the senior competition with increased costs and less registered teams, and we need your help to encourage more players to join and play basketball and turn that trend around. Our major costs are currently the venue hire and the referee costs which we need to provide for the

games to operate at an acceptable level. Along with the development of the club we are looking at building the sport in Wanaka and this is where we would like your help as a sponsor.

The complete package will help subsidise the cost of referees and venue hire to ensure a high level of adjudication and support for both the senior and mini-ball competitions. The Wanaka basketball committee wishes to thank you for helping us reach our goals of getting the community involved in what we see is a great sport for all age groups."

Wanaka Associated Football Club will be holding a Special General Meeting

on Monday 8th June, 6:30pm at Wanaka Districts Club.

The main agenda for the Special General Meeting is to

discuss proposed amendments to the clubs constitution. The reason for these proposed amendments are so the club can meet the requirements of charity status,

with the intention of registering with the NZ Charities Services Commission.

UPPER CLUTHA TRAMPING CLUB WINTER WALKS 2015

Winter walks take place on the 1st Saturday and 3rd Sunday of each month commencing on3rd May and finishing on 20th September. Interested people need only to turn up on the dayat 8.30 am at the Pembroke Car Park. They must bring lunch (including thermos), warmweatherproof clothing, sunglasses, sturdy boots and car pool petrol donation.

All walks are graded easy medium, usually no longer than 5 hours and within a one hourdrive from Wanaka. The destination is often only decided a few days prior in order toaccommodate weather and conditions.

Winter walks are quite sociable trips and we have been known to stop for a coffee on theway home. Non members are always welcome.

The full summer programme starts in October.

Club nights occur at 7:30 pm on the second Wednesday of each month at the Wanaka YachtClub on Lakeside Road, Wanaka.
