The new Mazda CX5 recently introduced by The Wheels To Dunstan Trust, is receiving high praise from both drivers and passengers.

The Wheels service, which enables Upper Clutha residents with transport difficulties to attend hospital medical/specialist appointments, has carried more than 1,400 people over the last seven and a half years. The Wheels Trustees considered over twenty possible vehicles before selecting the Mazda CX5.

The purchase of the new vehicle was made possible by funding from: the Central Lakes Trust, the Otago Community Trust, the Rotary Club of Wanaka, the Wanaka Masonic Lodge,

Dunedin City Mazda, and the Grandview Probus Club.

Maintaining the service as a free one relies on passenger donations, 54 volunteer drivers and maintenance people, Upper Clutha Transport, the Callis Trust, Print It, Accountancy At Altitude, Wanaka Tyreland, the Wanaka Medical Centre and Pukka Signs.

Getting from Wanaka to hospital appointments and back in one day is very difficult for those unable to drive. That the Wheels service can make travel to the hospital easier is largely because of the generosity and support of the Upper Clutha community.
